Problem s. The growth o f results in the sport o f higher achievements, tough competition on the international stage require a high level o f preparation from the subjects o f competitive activity. The ability to manage one’s own movements well, which is based on mastering the mechanisms o f the development o f psyche is an important component o f the training process o f an athlete.

Under present conditions the psychological training o f judoists is o f great importance, which determines the search o f ways, means and methods that are directed at the attainment o f the optimal state o f preparedness and successful realization o f the abilities o f a human organism in extreme situations.

The victory in sport to a great extent is determined by the individual psychological peculiarities o f a person. In this context, investigation o f psychic qualities as one o f the most important units in the system o f psychological training o f judoists is quite significant.

Im portance. In the process o f sport activity an individual constantly develops and perfects himself. At that, there arise some problems o f psychological nature, which are necessary to know and take into consideration in one’s work [4>miaT0Ba 1982].

Sport achievement, as well as other achievements o f a person, are the result o f interaction of external (financial, material) and internal (attitude to training, presence o f dispositions) factors that can be interdependent. At that, the external factors influence success indirectly, evoking athlete’s subjective states which determine his behaviour. A number o f scholars think that every event happens against a certain psychological state, which conditions its passing, and as a result its change [,,®H3KyjibTypa h cnopT” 1973].

A.V. Rodionov asserts that in the development o f a person main role belongs to the external factors, which induce to the purposeful activity and have a manifold character [PoAHOHOBa 1979]. V.P. Nekrasov stresses on the importance o f situational factors o f training and competitive activity, rational implement o f which gives a possibility to cultivate necessary qualities, attitudes, motives that determine athlete’s striving for high achievements and characterize him as a personality [Po/moHOBa 1979; HexpacoBa 1985]. At a present stage there arose a need to investigate the psychic qualities in the context o f consideration o f psychological training o f judoists.

P u rp o se o f this work was to define the essence o f psychic qualities having learned their role in the system o f psychological preparation o f judoists.

T asks. 1. To give characteristics o f the main psychic qualities o f judoists. 2. To view the peculiarities o f the formation o f judoists’ psychic qualities. Results o f th e investigation an d th e ir discussion. Numerous materials, accumulated by home and foreign specialists, represent different aspects o f psychological training o f athletes. The works of different scholars deal with separate issues o f this problem. Thus, A.V. Rodionov into the process of psychological preparation includes the complex o f psychological-pedagogical and medical-biological influences that are directed at the formation o f a high level o f trainedness, psychological reliability and readiness for participation in important competitions [Poahohob 1982],

G.D. Gorbunov considers that the notion ’’psychological training” is not the broadest in the psychology o f sport, it is only a part o f professional provision o f activity and singles out the

following components: psychodiagnostics, managing o f state and behaviour o f a person under training and competitive conditions [,,<l>H3KyjibTypa h cnop-r” 1973],

For the attainment o f high results, it’s necessary to know the peculiarities o f the kind o f sport and the demands required o f the athlete, his psychological qualities and level o f their perfectiveness [KoJiecHHK 1985]. Psychic qualities can be conditioned by natural dispositions that are polished up at the judo classes [OrniaroBa 1982].

High level o f development o f psychic qualities is one o f the important conditions o f mental reliability and high potency o f a judoist. However, the mechanisms o f their formation are not sufficiently studied. Attention o f sport psychologists is drawn mostly to the study o f psychic processes and states o f a sportsman [CraMÖyjiOBa 2003], R.V. Pavelkiv thinks that psychic processes are the primary regulators o f a person’s behaviour. They have certain dynamic characteristics, including the factors that determine durability and stableness o f a psychic process. Psychic processes are closely connected and are the primary factors o f the formation o f person’s psychic states. At the same time, psychic states influence the course and the result o f psychic processes and can raise the effectiveness of activity or impede it [naBemdB 2004]. The ability to regulate a psychic state is an essential part o f wrestler’s training. However, despite the fact that the importance o f mental self-regulation is generally recognized and there are many mechanisms o f its development, the systematic teaching o f them in judo wrestling is hardly conducted. Only individual well-known sportsmen leam by themselves to regulate their psychic state [Kojicchhk 1985].

The issue o f d evelopm ent o f the ability to self-m obilize and control o n e ’s em otional state, which is d eveloped in the process o f long-term purposeful training, acquires a specific m eaning during the p erform ance in the com petitions and preparation for them [PoajtoHOBa 1979; HeKpacoBa 1985].

The level o f psychological preparedness determines the psychological state o f the sportsman, which is very important and necessary for the sporting activity, revealing o f psychological functions and is characterized by a certain level o f their activity.

The m atter o f form ation o f psychic qualities o f athletes is one o f the aspects o f general psychological problem o f developm ent o f characteristics and abilities o f a person based o n the psychic processes and states [IlaBenKiB 2004]. F orm ation o f psychic qualities on the basis o f psychic processes have been v iew ed b y authors from d ifferent positions: a s a result o f consolidation o f the process in consequence o f re petition o f m o to r actions; a s a result o f generalization o f processes; as a result o f synthesizing various processes o f one m odality w ith the following consolidation and generalization o f the g enerated system [CraMÔyjiOBa 2003].

In our opinion, such trend o f p sychological provision o f sporting activity though gives certain positive results over a short period o f time, b u t cannot b e considered quite reliable, as psychic states depend not only on the situation but also on the individual qualities o f a person.

Judo puts forward extremely high criteria to the psyche o f a person. For a present-day duel is characterized by high intensity. At that, the speed o f sportsman’s actions, under the conditions o f momentary change o f competitive situations, depends on their practical evaluation. The reaction must be adequate and timely.

The necessity to endure considerable physical and psychic loads, to resist tiredness - all this demands ffom the athlete a high level o f development o f psychological qualities, increases the demands on the development o f cognitive sphere o f a person, i.e. concentration o f attention (ability to keep the concentration on important aspects o f surroundings), formed imagination - kind o f imitation that includes extraction ffom the memory o f fragments o f information o f different experience and their transformation into the meaningful images (our brain is able to imagine what haven’t yet happened), thinking o f subjects o f training and competitive processes [HeKpacoBa 1985].

Judoist’s thinking runs under the conditions that are constantly changing against the morpho- functional tension and is characterized by flexibility, creativity, ability to quickly make right decisions and realize them. W restler’s thinking has a visual-effectual character, is based on the knowledge o f judo techniques and tactics, requires quick orientation and momentary making o f necessary decisions, is realized and tested by practical actions [K ojicchhk 1985],

Will is a psychological phenomenon o f v ery d ifficult com plexity, w hich is characterized as a functioning part o f mind, a special function o f brain that allow s a sportsman to control o n e se lf

in the conditions o f negotiation o f obstacles o f different difficulty, and comprises gnostic (intellectual), emotional (motivational) and operational (skills) components. The concrete demon strations o f will are volitional qualities [,,<t>H3Kyjibrypa h cnopr” 1973].

In rearing volition qualities o f judoists the key factor is the orientation o f activity on systematic negotiation o f difficulties. Orientation on the achievement o f high results, constant rise o f training demands contribute to rearing o f volition qualities

In literature, th ere differentiate th e fo llow ing v o litio n qualities o f ju d o ists: courage, bravery, determ ination, self-dependence, p u rposefulness, persistence, endurance, self-control [KonecHHK

1985; C/raMÖyjioBa 2003; OmraTOBa 1982],

In practice, wide-spread are the cases when a sportsman who shows considerable results during training classes demonstrates much lower showing during the official competitions. The solution o f this task is a component part o f athlete’s training and is a development o f psychic qualities, perfection o f the ability to control one’s own behaviour.

For the rational influence on the judoist’s psyche it’s necessary to have objective information about functional and motor abilities o f a wrestler, information about his mental state before each class. For this it’s necessary to exercise daily control o f the sportsman’s health, to teach him the methods o f autoregulation. '

Special place in the development o f psychic qualities belongs to the stage o f initial and basic sport-training. For at this stage the basis for the formation o f athlete’s effective activity is laid. One o f the principal mental peculiarities that determines success in sport activity o f each beginner is considered personal motives that brought the youth to judo. One o f the problems of psychological training is preservation o f sportsmen’s desire for constant perfection within a long period o f time. During the last years, because o f the abrupt rise o f training and competitive extents o f load, physical and mental tensions this problem has acquired special importance.

Motive is a key factor in the conscious and purposeful activity o f a sportsman. It’s necessary to know what purpose the learner has set for himself, in what way he hopes to achieve it; at this, analyzing his behaviour and activity one should not only define the main objectives, but also those personal peculiarities that determine his life position, attitude to different aspects o f reality. This will help to increase the trainer and sportsman’s work effectiveness in the solution o f the tasks set [OnjiaTOBa 1982].

On the basis o f analysis o f scientific data o f the investigated problems we can make such conclusions:

1. Development o f psychic qualities is one o f the most important components o f general psychological training o f sportsmen. One o f the main periods o f rearing psychic qualities is the period o f initial and basic sport-training o f athletes. The peculiarities o f the formation o f psychic qualities o f judoists are connected with the specific activity o f the representatives o f the given kind o f oriental duel.

2. The system o f psychological training presents all the aspects o f external influence that are based on athlete’s knowledge, skills and experience, on the characteristics o f his personal qualities, special preparation and individual methods o f the negotiation o f obstacles on the way to sport mastery. Disregard o f psychological training in the conditions o f training and competitive processes makes the mobilization o f will efforts for the achievement o f a high result by a sportsman impossible.
