AUTHORITARIANISM: AN EMPIRICAL FACTOR IN EDUCATION AND PERSONALITY RESEARCH

(Summary)

A uthoritarian persons are characterised by a specific relationship to authority. The author of th e article offers a v iew of som e more im portant classical and latest researches in the above m entioned field of psychology. The survey contains indications on w here the resear­ ches are undertaken, w hich m ethods are used. Special attention is paid to the great variety of the subject discussed. Psychologists of m any continents and u niversities are very interested in the nature of autho­ ritarian personality, in correlations betw een authoritarianism and other traits of personality such as dogmatism, rigidity, academ ic ach ieve­ ment, religion and m orality dim ension, social attitudes, results of edu­ cation, political dispositions and so on.

N ext the stages of developm ent and the Polish version of the F scale is offered w ith a brief characterizations of subscales. The article is ended w ith some critical remarks. The author announces thé resear­ ches w ith th e F scale in th e Academy of Catholic Theology in Warsaw as well.
