Cassubia - a new generic name for Pomerania Lendzion, 1975
In 1975 a new generic name Pomerania. was proposed for specimen of Trilobitoidea found in the Lower Cambrian (K. Lendzion, 1975). Howe- ver, it appeared that the name Pomerania has been earlier used for one of the genera of Ammonoidea, typical of the Upper Jurassic, by J. W. Ar- kell (1937). In accordance with the Rules of the International Zoological
Code thegeneric name proposed for the Lower Cambrian specimen should be repla, ced with a new one as it was introd.uood. later 1lhan the Arkell's name. Therefore, the name Cassubia is proposed for the Lower Cambrian specimen of Trilobitoidea and the name Pomerania infracambriensis L e n d z i o n· (1975) i.s changed into Cassubia infracambriensis L e n- d z i on. Cassubia is latinized name of Kaszuby region frorn the central Pomerania, wherethe specimen Cassubia infracambriensis L e n d z i o n was found in core material of the borehole Kościerzyna.
