IbrÁhÐm MuÎammad IbrÁhÐm was born in 1962. He graduated in Arabic Studies from the University in Beirut. He is a member of the Emirati Literary Association (IttiÎÁd KuttÁb wa UdabÁ’ ImÁrÁt), the Association of Islamic Literature (RÁbiÔa adab al-islÁmi) and the Cultural-Scientific Association (Nadwa ath-thaqÁfa wa al-‘ulÙm). He is the author of many volumes of poetry composed in classical Arabic and in dialect. He re-ceived a prize for his literary works in 2009. He has published the following volumes of poetry: ÑaÎwat al-waraq (1990), FasÁd al-milÎ (1997), HadhÁ min abnÁ’ aÔ-Ôayr (2000), aÔ-ÓarÐq ilÁ ra’s at-tall (2002).

KhalÐd al-BaddÙr was born in 1961 in Dubai. He graduated in Computer Studies from the Emirates University in 1987. He received his MA in scenario writing from Ohio University in the USA in 1996. He received the YÙsuf al-KhÁl Prize for his volume of poetry Layl in 1991. He is the author of many volumes of poetry composed in classical Arabic and in dialect. He cooperates closely with newspapers. He has worked as a TV-speaker in Emirati Television. He is a member of the Emirati Literary Association (It-tiÎÁd KuttÁb wa UdabÁ’ al-ImÁrÁt). He has published the following volumes of poetry:

Layl (1991), ShitÁ’ (2002), MaÔar ‘alÁ al-baÎr (2009) and one volume in dialect Íibr wa ghazal (1999).

AÎmad RÁshid ThÁnÐ was born in 1962. He graduated in Literature from the Emirates University in 1985. He actively participates in the cultural life of the Emirates, publish-ing widely within the pages of literary newspapers and magazines. He is also an author of dramas and plays. He writes books about Emirati history and culture. He has received the Sultan ‘Uways Prize for his literary works. He is a member of the Emirati Literary Association (IttiÎÁd KuttÁb wa UdabÁ’ al-ImÁrÁt). He is the author of many volumes of poetry composed in classical Arabic and in dialect. He has published the following vol-umes of poetry: Sab‘ qaÒÁ’id (1981), HadhÁ kullu mÁ ladayy (1988), Damm ash-sham‘a (1991), Íaythu al-kull (1995), ÍÁfa al-gharf (1999), JulÙs aÒ-ÒabÁÎ ‘alÁ al-baÎr (2003), YÁ’tÐ al-layl wa ya’khudhnÐ (2007). In 1996 he published a volume of poetry in dialect:

YÁ al-mÁkil ikonÐzÐ wa yÁ al-khÁrif dhahab.

NÁÒir JubrÁn was born in 1952. He works as a post-office supervisor. He is the author of many volumes of poetry composed in classical Arabic and in dialect. He actively participates in the cultural life in Emirate, publishing widely within the pages of literary newspapers and magazines. He is a member of the Emirati Literary Association (IttiÎÁd KuttÁb wa UdabÁ’ al-ImÁrÁt). He has published the following volumes of poetry: MÁdhÁ law tarakÙ al-khayl tamÃÐ (1990), IstiÎÁlÁt as-sukÙn (1993), and the collections of short stories: MayÁdir (1990), NÁfÙra ash-shaÛÁyÁ (1993).

Jawriyya al-KhÁja was born in 1958, graduated in Arabic Studies from the Emirates University. She is a member of the Emirati Literary Association (IttiÎÁd KuttÁb wa

Uda-bÁ’ al-ImÁrÁt) and the World Art Center in Dubai (Markaz Dubayy al-‘ÁlamÐ li-l-funÙn).

She has published the volume of poetry: ÑahÐl ar-rÙÎ (1999).

WafÁ’ KhÁzandÁr graduated in Business Management in 2002. She also graduated in Fine Arts Studies from the American University in the United Arab Emirates in 2010.

She is a member of the Emirati Literary Association (IttiÎÁd KuttÁb wa UdabÁ’ al-ImÁrÁt) and the World Art Center in Dubai (Markaz Dubayy al-‘ÁlamÐ li-l-funÙn). She has received many prizes for her art and literary works. To date she has had over twenty personal exhibitions. She has published the following volumes of poetry: SilÁÎ abyaà (2005), KhÁzinat al-faraÎ (2009) and the collection of short stories BÙrtry jaddatÐ (Am-man 2009).

Úabiyya KhamÐs was born in 1958 in Abu Dhabi. She graduated in Political Studies from the Indiana University in the USA. She received a diploma in Anthropology from the University of London in Great Britain. She also received her MA from the American University in Cairo. She lives and works in Cairo. She actively participates in the cul-tural life of the Emirates, publishing widely within the pages of literary newspapers and magazines. She received a prize for her literary works in 2010 in Ajman in UAE. She has published the following volumes of poetry: KhuÔwa fawq al-arà (1982), ath-ThunÁ’iyya:

anÁ al-mar’a al-arà kullu aÃ-ÃalÙ’ (1982), SabÁbÁt al-mahra al-‘umaniyya (1985), QaÒÁ’id al-Îubb (1985), as-SulÔÁn yarjum imra’a ÎablÐ bi-l-baÎr (1988), Jannat al-ji-narÁlÁt (1993), Mawt al-‘Á’ila (1993), IntiÎÁr hÁdi’ jiddÁn (1995), al-QarmuÛÐ (1995), al-MashÐ fÐ aÎlÁm al-rÙmÁntÐkiyya (1996), Shaghaf (2005), NaÎwa al-abad ( 2008). She has also published the books: ‘UrÙq al-jÐr wa al-Îana (1985), IbtisÁmÁt mÁkira (1996), ash-Shi‘riyya al-‘ÙrÙbiyya wa diktÁtÙriyyat ar-rÙÎ (1996).

KhÁlid ar-RÁshid graduated in Arabic Studies from the Emirates University. He worked in Emirate Television and actively participated in the cultural life of the Emirates, pub-lishing widely within the pages of the literary newspaper “al-IttiÎÁd”. He lives in the Himalayas. He has published the following volumes of poetry: Kulluhu azraq (2007) and Munamnam (2009).

JamÐla ar-RuwayhÐ works as a teacher. She is a member of the Emirati Literary As-sociation (IttiÎÁd KuttÁb wa UdabÁ’ al-ImÁrÁt), the AsAs-sociation of Islamic Literature (RÁbiÔa al-adab al-islÁmi) and the Cultural-Scientific Association (Nadwa ath-thaqÁfa wa al-‘ulÙm). She actively participates in the cultural life of the Emirate. She has pub-lished the following volumes of poetry: BukÁ’ al-maÔar (2005), Imra’a ar-raml (2006), ÑahÐl khaÃrÁ (2008).

AsmÁ’ az-Zar‘ÙnÐ was born in ash-ShÁriqa in 1964. She graduated in Education Studies in 1988. She is a member of the Emirati Literary Association (IttiÎÁd KuttÁb wa UdabÁ’

al-ImÁrÁt), and the Arab Writers Association (IttiÎÁd al-KuttÁb wa UdabÁ’ al-‘Arab). She works for the Ministry of Education. She actively participates in literary festivals and poetry evenings. She received the prize for Best book published in 2009 in ash-ShÁriqa.

She has published the following volumes of poetry: HadhÁ al-masÁ’ lanÁ (1997), BawÎ al-ÎamÁm (2008) and the collection of short stories: Hamas ash-shawÁÔi’, ash-ShawÁÔi’

al-fÁrigha’, novel al-Jasad ar-rÁÎil and the following stories for children: AÎmad wa as-samaka, al-‘UÒfÙra wa al-waÔan, GhÁbat as-sa’Áda, SalÁma, ÍakÐma.

ThÁnÐ as-SuwaydÐ was born in 1965. He writes poetry and prose. He is a member of the Emirati Literary Association (IttiÎÁd KuttÁb wa UdabÁ’ al-ImÁrÁt). He has published the volume of poetry Li-yajiffa rÐq al-baÎr (1991) and the novel ad-DÐzil.

‘Abd AllÁh al-Hadiya ash-ShaÎÎÐ was born in 1962 in Ra’s al-Khayma in the UAE.

He actively participates in cultural life both in the Emirates and abroad. He cooperates with Emirate TV in Ra’s al-Khayma. He is a member of the Emirati Literary Association (IttiÎÁd KuttÁb wa UdabÁ’ al-ImÁrÁt) and the Cultural-Scientific Association (Nadwa ath-thaqÁfa wa al-‘ulÙm). He has published the following volumes of poetry: IbtisÁm al-‘umr, IlÁ matÁ, Ayna anta (2000).

‘AlÐ al-Sha‘ÁlÐ graduated in Civil Engineering from the Emirates University. He re-ceived his MA from George Washington University in the USA. He is the director of the Sheikh MoÎammad bin RÁshid Al MaktÙm Foundation. He actively participates in the cultural life of the Emirates. He is a member of the Cultural-Scientific Association (Na-dwa ath-thaqÁfa wa al-‘ulÙm). He has published the following volumes of poetry: NaÎla wa rabÁba (2004), WujÙh wa ukhrÁ mat‘aba (2010).

MaysÙn Ñaqr was born in 1959. She worked for the Ministry of Culture in Abu Dhabi.

She is the author of many volumes of poetry composed in classical Arabic and in Egyp-tian dialect. She is also an artist. She is a member of the Emirati Literary Associa tion (IttiÎÁd KuttÁb wa UdabÁ’ al-ImÁrÁt). She has published the following volumes of po-etry: HakadhÁ ismÐ al-ashyÁ’ (1982), ar-RÐhaqÁn (1992), al-Bayt (1992), JiryÁn fÐ mÁda al-jasad (1992), MakÁn akhar (1994), Rajul majnÙn lÁ yuÎibbunÐ (2001), Armalat qÁÔi’

ÔarÐq (2007) and the novel RÐÎÁna (2003).

ÍÁrib aÛ-ÚÁhirÐ was born in 1964 in al-‘Ayn. He graduated from university in the USA.

He is a member of the Emirati Literary Association (IttiÎÁd KuttÁb wa UdabÁ’ al-ImÁrÁt).

He has published the following volumes of poetry: Qubla ‘alÁ khadd al-qamar (1999) and Shams shafatayki (2002) and the collections of short stories: MandulÐn (1997) and Layl ad-damÁ (2005).

AÎmad MuÎammad ‘Ubayd was born in 1967. He graduated in Arabic Studies from the Emirates University. He received his MA from the ‘Ayn Shams University in Cairo.

He is a member of the Emirati Literary Association (IttiÎÁd KuttÁb wa UdabÁ’ al-ImÁrÁt), the Association of Islamic Literature (RÁbiÔa al-adab al-islÁmi) and the Cultural-Scientif-ic Association (Nadwa ath-thaqÁfa wa al-‘ulÙm). He writes poetry and critCultural-Scientif-ical works. He has published the following volumes of poetry: ShumÙ‘ wa qanÁdÐl (1991), Ma’ al-layl (1993), ‘Àshiq fÐ zaman al-ghurba (1995), Min aghÁnÐ al-‘Áshiq al-qadÐm (1998), Àkhir qawÁfil (2004), Ru’Á nÁbiÃa (2005) and the critical works: KhalÐj ‘arabÐ fÐ al--‘aÒr al-mu’ÁÒir (1998), KashshÁf al-adab al-ImÁrÁtÐ al-mu‘ÁÒir (2005).

AÎmad al-‘Asam was born in 1964. He is a member of the Emirati Literary Association (IttiÎÁd KuttÁb wa UdabÁ’ al-ImÁrÁt) and the Cultural-Scientific Association (Nadwa

ath-thaqÁfa wa al-‘ulÙm). He has published the volume of poetry: YaÎduth hadhÁ faqaÔ (2009).

ÑÁliÎa GhÁbish was born in 1960. She graduated in Arabic Studies. She is a member of the Emirati Literary Association (IttiÎÁd KuttÁb wa UdabÁ’ al-ImÁrÁt). Being extremly active she cooperates with newspapers and cultural clubs. She is the Head of the Girls’

Club (NÁdÐ al-BanÁt) in ash-ShÁriqa. She has published the following volumes of poetry:

Bi-intiÛÁr ash-shams (1992), al-MarÁyÁ laysat hiyÁ (1997).

ShihÁb GhÁnim was born in 1940. He graduated in Engineering from university in the USA in 1963. He studied Business Management in London. He obtained his MA in 1975 from India, and received his PhD in Economics in 1989 in Great Britain. He has composed many pieces of poetry collected in several volumes which were published in 2009 in Abu Dhabi as DÐwÁn ShihÁb GhÁnim.

NujÙm al-GhÁnim was born in 1962. She graduated from the Information Faculty of the University of Ohio in the USA. She worked on the Emirati newspaper “al-IttiÎad”. She is a member of the Emirati Literary Association (IttiÎÁd KuttÁb wa UdabÁ’ al-ImÁrÁt). She has published the following volumes of poetry: MasÁ’ al-janna (1989), al-JarÁ’ir (1991), RawÁÎil (1996), ManÁzil jullanÁr (2000), LÁ waÒf limÁ anÁ fÐhi (2005), MalÁ’ikat al--ashwÁq al-ba’Ðda (2008).

Rahaf al-MubÁrak actively participates in the cultural life of the Emirates. She is a member of the Emirati Literary Association (IttiÎÁd KuttÁb wa UdabÁ’ al-ImÁrÁt) and the Association of Islamic Literature (RÁbiÔa al-adab al-islÁmi). She has received many prizes for her literary works from the Women’s Club in ash-ShÁriqa and Zayd University.

She has published the volume of poetry: Ayna qalbÐ…? (2008).

MuÎammad al-MazrÙ‘Ð was born in 1962. He is poet, writer and artist. He actively participates in the cultural life of the Emirates. He is a member of the Emirati Literary Association (IttiÎÁd KuttÁb wa UdabÁ’ al-ImÁrÁt). He has published the following vol-umes of poetry: al-LÁmÙs, RÐÎat damm, Lakinnaka anta yÁ Àdam, Araq an-namÙdhaj, BilÁ sabab liannanÁ fuqarÁ’ (2009).

Al-HanÙf MuÎammad was born in 1972. She graduated in English Literature from the Emirates University in 1994. She is a member of the Emirati Literary Association (It-tiÎÁd KuttÁb wa UdabÁ’ al-ImÁrÁt). She has published the following volumes of poetry:

as-SamÁwÁt (1996) and JudrÁn (2005).

KarÐm Ma’tÙq was born in 1959. He works for the Ministry of Culture in Abu Dhabi.

He is a member of the Emirati Literary Association (IttiÎÁd KuttÁb wa UdabÁ’ al-Im-ÁrÁt). He received the prize and title AmÐr ash-shu‘rÁ’ (Prince of Poets) in 2008. He has published the following volumes of poetry: ManÁhil (1988), ÓufÙla (1992), HadhÁ anÁ (1995), A‘ÒÁb as-sukkar (not dated) and the novel Íadath fÐ IsÔambÙl (1996).

KhulÙd al-Mu‘allÁ graduated in Architecture from the Emirate University. She received her MA in Business Management in Great Britain. She has also graduated in Arabic

Studies from the University in Beirut. She has published the following volumes of po-etry: HunÁ Ãayya‘t az-zaman (1997), WaÎdaka (1999), HÁ’ al-ghÁ’ib (2003).

IbrÁhÐm Al-HÁshimÐ was born in 1961. In 1984 he graduated in Business Manage-ment from the Emirates University. He is a member of the Emirati Literary Association (IttiÎÁd KuttÁb wa UdabÁ’ al-ImÁrÁt) and the Cultural-Scientific Association (Nadwa ath-thaqÁfa wa al-‘ulÙm). He is the author of volumes of poetry composed in classical Arabic and in dialect. He also cooperates with literary newspapers. He has published the following volumes of poetry: MunÁkhÁt ÙlÁ (1996), TafÁÒÐl (2000), Qalaq (2000).

‘Abd AllÁh ‘Abd al-WahÁb was born in 1963. He graduated from the Emirates Univer-sity in 1985. He cooperates with newspapers. He has published the volume of poetry LÁ aÎad (2009).
