Foreword
The subject master of the newest volume ofLandform Analysis entitled “Geoecology of the
Euroasiatic Alpids” is the continuation of the pre-ceding volume entitled “Geoecological Problems of High Mountains”. The theme of nine articles is func-tioning of natural environment, particularly its abiotic component, of selected Alpine regions in the Tatras, the Alps, the Pirin, the Caucasus, the Pamir and the Polish Carpathians. Presented are the results of the newest research concerning contemporary de-velopment of the relief and functioning of the slope-valley system under anthropopressure in the Alpine environment and also in the conditions
with-out any anthropopressure in these areas. These pa-pers present various types of research methods, among others more and more widely applied dendrochronological methods. Seven articles con-cerning the Tatras, the Polish Carpathians, the Cau-casus and the Pamir Mts problems are written by Polish geomorphologists and ecologists. The re-maining two are written by geomorphologists and ecologists from Slovakia and from Bulgaria.
