W drugim adsorbowane były pojedyncze atomy O i Mg według dwóch różnych scenariuszy. Pierwszy zakładał utlenienie powierzchni Fe(001), a następnie adsorpcję atomów Mg na podłożu O/Fe(001). W drugim, powierzchnia Fe(001) pokryta została magnezem, po czym otrzymana struktura została utleniona. Wszystkie rozważane modele prowadzą do struktury MgO/Fe(001). W rezultacie, otrzymana została stabilna faza FeO. Obliczenia wykazały duży wpływ tlenu na strukturę elektronową i magnetyzm żelaza.
Modeling of the adsorption in the metal-oxide systems
The topic of the PhD thesis was simulation of the adsorption of the oxide layer on the Fe(001) surface and investigation of the interface formation between the oxide and metallic layer. Adsorption of the MgO molecules on the Fe(001) surface and deposition of the FeO layers on the clean Fe(001) surface were carried out to investigate the process of formation of the oxide layer. The MgO formation was carried out in two ways. In the first model, MgO molecules were adsorbed on the clean Fe(001) surface. In the second, single O and Mg atoms were deposited on the iron substrate according to two different scenarios. In the first scenario, the Mg atoms were adsorbed on the. Fe(001) surface with preadsorbed O atoms. In the second scenario, metallic Mg preadsorbed on the Fe(001) surface was oxidized. All models led to the formation of the Mg0/Fe(001) structure. The calculation results indicate the formation of the nonoxidized interface. For all models, changes of the structural, electronic and magnetic properties of the Mg0/Fe(001) system were investigated. The FeO deposition was realized by adsorption of the successive Fe layers, which were then oxidized. As a result, a stable FeO phase was received. The calculations showed a strong influence of oxygen on the electronic structure and magnetism of the iron surface.
