The aim of this dissertation is to develop an effective method for structural sound reduction in the fluid using piezoelectric materials.
The starting point for the key, experimental part of the work, is a theoretical part, in which the eigen-frequency equations for fluid-loaded plate were specified. In the experimental part the author's algorithm for active control as well as his description of the measuring apparatus and laboratory stand were presented. It includes glass water tank with a circular steel plate, which is loaded with water on the one side and on the other - the eight elements of PZT are attached to its surface. After some experiments author specified particular PZT as sensors or actuators and formed two configurations for the active reduction. At this stage - as well as creating his own algorithm - author used the Design of Experiment techniques. The experiments were verified by numerical model in ANSYS software using finite element methods. At this stage two types of numerical analyses were conducted: modal - to determine modes of vibration and the harmonic one structure - which was used to calculate the sound pressure level reduction (in water and in air). Subsequently the results of experimental studies we presented (only two of the eleven frequencies). The dissertation concludes with summary and some final thoughts about possible research directions in future.
