nr 159, 1959. .SUMMARY
The present opinions pn the lJiPper Jura-ssic of the mar.gi-n of the SwiE}tokrzyskie Mts. are given briefly, and the ~osures of the Upper Orlordian (" Astar-tian") and Lower Klmrneridgian found in the
north--eastern area of the margin are discussed.
The Lower Oxfordlan: Divesian and Neuvizyan, is fauIlIst£cally evidenced in the north-eastern an~
334
south-western margin areas, the Middle Orlordian~
Argovian, too. The deposi.ts of the Upper Oxfordian - "Rauracian" and "Astal'ltian" - developed as sponge limestones, and baIik: and coral limestones, disclose ample fauna of sponges, cora1s, bracb1opods and pelecypods, at places of cephalopods, partIcularly in the nol'th-eastern area of the margin, and so far have not been evidenced by ammonite fauna.
In the Upper Oxfordian quarries· at BIIa~ny (2 km south of nz,a, south-eastern margin of the Sw!~o
krzyskie Mu.) a complex: oc.curs of "Astartian" ·de-posits, cbaracterized by its special development. These are fonnations of Mypic reef. Here are found
antho-. ZOIans and ooMrf;es in compact, oolitic, ch8'lky anddetrital limestones, light grey and cream-coloured. Characteri'9tic fauna assemblage cOlllSists of thick-"Shelled pelecypodcJ (Diceras, Eodkeras, Pleswdiceras), gastropods (NeTinea, NerineUa), and brachiopods. In these deposits are found two horizons of flints, a part of which being syngenetic', othE!I'S epigenetic.
The Kimmeridian marIs and marlly 1Jmeston~, W'lth intercalations of lumachelles and shell limes-tones, are evidenced by ammon1te fauna. In the nol"th-eastern margin are found deposits of the whole Lower Kimmeridgillln, partly of the ~er Kimm.n-id-gian, Immediately C'Overed with the ValanginillI1 for-mations.
G6ra Zamkowa at IIZa reveals, at e:zposures, the Lower KUnmerigi'an fonnations, Immediately above the horizon Pktonia baylei. These are marts and marly limestunes, light grey and cream-coloured, with intercalations of Jumachelles and oo11te marls. The fa<UDa assemblage consists here of' pelecypod.s and brachiopods. EpithllriB subseUa (Leym.) and Epithvris cincta (Coflteau) are abundant, among pele': .cypods dominate MlIthilus (locaUy in ltmlachelles), Trigonia, Modiolus aeq'llliJp1iCatUis (S 0 w.) and Nanogira nana (8 0 w.). In the nOl'!1ih-we9tern area of the mai:gin,
in the vicinity of Tomasz6w, there occurs the whole Upper Kimrneridg'iQn, and its sedimentary continuity w::Ith the Portlandian, nemed by J. Kute4t - Vol-gian, can be obserVed. Here are found d~sl.tsof
Lower Portlandian and Middle Pol"tlandian age. The U!PPE!r Portlandian depasits developed in PUl"beckian :fiacies, are not found in the marginal area of the
Swi~akrzysktie Mts. The ne:xit area of their occurrence
is near PrzyItyk, NW of Radom.
