Comparison of methods for estimation of the spatial distribution of error of Numerical Models Terrain
The purpose of the dissertation is to analyze and evaluate the usefulness of different methods of estimating the spatial distribution of DEM error in spatial analyzes and to check the impact of the use of different kinds of information about the quality of their results. The dissertation examined the potential of each method and presents the optimal way to use them from the standpoint of obtaining information about the spatial distribution of model error.
Five different representative methods for spatial estimation error NMT were analyzed, which over the years have been the subject of various studies presented in the literature: the Kraus method, the Carlisle method, geostatistical method, empirical formulas, accuracy NMT arising from the diversity of land cover.
In practical analyzes two terrain models with different parameters of the precision were used: ISOK derived from ALS and LPIS based on photogrammetric measurements. The study was conducted in two areas: in the area close to the city of Częstochowa and within the city of Krakow.
The verification of the results were carried out in three ways: by direct measurement using RTK GPS scattered points, using the theoretical surface burdened with a known error, assuming LIDAR DTM as a reference surface for NMT LPIS. The benefits of integrating various methods to improve the accuracy of the estimation of the spatial distribution of the error were also examined. In addition the justification for the use of spatially varying accuracy for the purpose of spatial analysis was verified based on the example of generating a flood zones.
