In silico studies of electronic structure and bonding properties of selected
thermoelectric materials from ternary chalcogenides and silicon clathrates
groups
In this thesis the results of theoretical calculations within the density functional theory (DFT) for periodical systems were presented. Two groups of functional materials with potential application as thermoelectric materials were subjects of this study: ternary silver chalcogenides with stoichiometry AgXY2 and silicon type I clathrates. The theoretical analysis of the selected systems was based on considerations concerning the properties of both crystalline and electron structure, including the band structure and total electron density topology within the quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAiM). Additionally, the results of calculations in the model of bond valence (BVM) and transport properties based on Boltzmann's theory were presented.
