Wykonane badania geochemiczne wykazały, pomimo wysokiej zmienności parametrów ilościowych i jakościowych macierzystości skał, obecność w obrębie ordowiku i syluru średniej i dobrej skały macierzystej.
The PhD thesis includes a detailed characteristic of the source rock properties of Lower Paleozoic deposits and a reconstruction of the development of the petroleum- forming processes in this rock complex, found in the central and southern part of the Masovian-Lublin Through. The results of the geochemical analyses have indicated, despite the high variability in the quantitative and qualitative source rock parameters, the presence of a moderate to good source rock within the Ordovician and
Silurian. Cambrian deposits have not shown organic matter content exceeding the minimum threshold for source rocks. Geochemical analyses of the Lower Paleozoic deposits have confirmed the presence of the oil- prone Type II kerogen, deposited in an anoxic environment, most likely in a classic sea or lake setting with low-sulfate presence. Complex interpretation of geologic, thermal, and geochemical data has led to compile, with the aid of BasinMod® 1-D and 2-D software, a coherent hydrocarbon generation model for the identified source rock intervals. The final result of this study was an evaluation of the petroleum potential of the Lower Paleozoic source rocks and an assessment of the dynamics and scale of the petroleum-forming processes in the central and southern part of the Masovian-Lublin Through. The amount of generated hydrocarbons has also been evaluated as well as the amount of expelled hydrocarbons that might have migrated to form accumulations.
