Economic effectiveness analysis of distributed combined heat and power plants fired with natural gas and biomass

Abstract

The paper presents the analysis of economic effectiveness of small scale combined heat and power (CHP) plants fired with natural gas and using biomass energy. There are analysed the following of small scale CHP plants: a) CHP plant with gas turbine fired with natural gas, b) CHP plant with gas engine fired with natural gas, c) CHP plant with back-pressure steam turbine integrated with direct biomass combustion, d) CHP plant with Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) integrated with direct biomass combustion, e) CHP plant with gas engine integrated with biomass gasification, f) CHP plant with gas turbine integrated with biomass gasification, and g) CHP plant with gas engine integrated with biological biomethan generator. For these type of CHP plants there are determined the quantities characterizing their economic effectiveness.

KEY WORDS: natural gas, biomass, combined heat and power plant, economic effectiveness
