Subject: The transport logistic effects from shipping cost and value perspective for
allocation of overseas facilities for Ampelmann Operations
Ampelmann Operations has a growing fleet of Ampelmann units. Since the foundation, the
headquarter of Ampelmann Operations is located in Delft. The production and service facilities are shipyard in Rotterdam. Ampelmann units are dispatched from this yard to an offshore project. When an unit is finished with an offshore deployment either it goes to the next deployment, or it returns to the yard in Rotterdam. Currently, the majority of projects is performed in the North Sea and
Ampelmann has Rotterdam as home base. Since Ampelmann has worldwide deployments, opening facilities elsewhere is considered. The effects on logistics when setting up overseas facilities are unknown.
Your assignment is to provide insights in the effects for logistics when setting up overseas facilities. . The effect of uncertainties in input parameters on optimal configurations needs to be visualized. This thesis has to result in a tool that gives insights in the effects of uncertainty on optima. This tool should be made in such a way that it can be used later when uncertainties became reduce. These
uncertainties need to be mapped and quantified and have to be incorporated in the outcome. The report should comply with the guidelines of the section. Details can be found on the website.
