PREFACE

This issue contains a selection of papers presented at the 23rd IFIP TC7 Conference on System Modelling and Optimization, held in Cracow on July 23- 27, 2007. Most, but not all of the papers were presented in the framework of the invited session on ”Stability, Sensitivity and Error Analysis for Optimal Control Problems”, which was organized by us. Another selection of papers, presented in the same session and devoted to numerical analysis, will appear in a special issue of the journal ”Computing Optimization and Applications”.

All papers in the present issue of ”Control and Cybernetics” have passed the thorough reviewing process standard for this journal.
