L i k e the E g y p t i a n 8ιαίρ<σιτ, it consists of an identification of the c o n t r a c t i n g parties, a statement of the p r o p e r t y to be d i v i d e d , a list of the portions of each heir d r a w n by lot, certain conditions applicable to all, a n d at the end a statement of title (κνρΐίία-clause) a n d the penalties for breach of c o n t r a c t ( r e f u s i n g to abide by the s e t t l e m e n t ) . Title-guarantees are r e g u l a r l y l a c k i n g . T h e D u r a - t e x t differs o n l y in m a t t e r s affected by local practice. I t employs the " p r o t o c o l " - f o r m (δΐίίλοντο-ίκόντ«) w h i c h w a s used also in P t o l e m a i c times in E g y p t b u t w h i c h gave w a y later t o a variety of other types, most c o m m o n l y f o r the SialptaK the " h o m o l o g y . " T h e closing phrase, ϊχ(ΐ St και άντισνγγραφον, also is a D u r a peculiarity, the precise significance of w h i c h is u n k n o w n . A t the end are n a m e d the witnesses, the same t h r o u g h o u t as in P a r c h m e n t № 21, w h i c h h o w e v e r omits the t h i r d j u d g e , D a n y m i s . I n c o n f o r m i t y w i t h D u r a practice there are listed first the officials of the office w h e r e the d o c u m e n t w a s d r a w n a n d recorded, here the R o y a l c o u r t .
