T h e edition contains t h r e e leases f r o m Hermopolis Magna ( P . Berl. I n v . Nos 16048, 16050 a n d 16055) w r i t t e n in t h e y e a r s 565, 579 a n d 589 respectively. I n connection with t h e delivery of r e n t , t h e lessee in all of t h e t h r e e c o n t r a c t s engages t o p a y λόγφ συν-ήθειας a c e r t a i n q u a l i t y of other t h i n g s (milk, beans, etc.). Berl. I n v . № 16050 contains t h e s t i p u l a t i o n t h a t t h e lessee is n o t allo-wed t o leave t h e arable l a n d untilled before t h e t e r m i n a t i o n of t h e lease. I n connection w i t h these t h r e e t e x t s , f o r m i n g a group b y themselves, Z i l l i a c u s publishes a t e x t being a lease acknow-l e d g m e n t f r o m Hermopoacknow-lis, Beracknow-l. I n v . № 16, 166 (643 A . D . ? ) . T h e lease is for a t i m e of t w o years. T h e H a m b u r g p a p y r u s belongs t o t h e A p h r o d i t e d o c u m e n t s of t h e s i x t h c e n t u r y . T h e writer p r e s e n t s himself as t h e chief of t h e θειοτάτη οικία, t h e divina or dominica domus as it is called in t h e L a t i n sources. T h e title of t h i s official, t h e a d m i n i s t r a t o r of t h e i m p e r i a l „ h o u s e h o l d " is κουράτωρ της θείας (θειοτάτης) οικίας or
