An Xiao1. Attempts to establish the interface toughness through simulation only, without performing delamination experiments will not yield into a correct result.
2. Interface delamination forms the key failure mode in microelectronic components. 3. The delamination test setup as presented in this thesis enables the semiconductor
industry to accurately establish the interface toughness.
4. Knowledge migrants, foreign workers and foreign students who contribute to the economic growth of the Netherlands, should not be required to learn the Dutch language. 5. Opportunities are always there, but the discovery and exploitation requires a touch of
creativity, an open mind and motivation.
6. Nowadays media form a main cause of misinterpretation and disagreement between countries.
7. It is often said that “People form the greatest asset of a company”. But from a futuristic perspective, this asset is only formed by those people who constantly realize performance and innovation.
8. Remembering failures and setbacks in life is as important as remembering success and victory moments.
9. If all targets are realistic, breakthroughs will not follow.
These propositions are considered opposable and defendable and as such have been approved by the supervisor Prof. Dr. Ir. Leo J. Ernst.

1. Pogingen om de interface taaiheid te bepalen door middel van uitsluitend simulatie, zonder het uitvoeren van delaminatie experimenten, zullen niet leiden tot een correct resultaat.
2. Interface delaminatie vormt de belangrijkste faal modus in micro-elektronische componenten.
3. De delaminatie testopstelling zoals gepresenteerd in dit proefschrift stelt de halfgeleiderindustrie in staat om de interface taaiheid nauwkeurig vast te stellen
4. Van kennismigranten, buitenlandse werkkrachten en buitenlandse studenten die bijdragen aan de economische groei van Nederland, zou niet moeten worden verlangd dat zij de Nederlandse taal te leren.
5. Kansen zijn er altijd, maar het ontdekken en benutten vergt een vleugje creativiteit, een open geest en motivatie. Het succes hangt af, van wie wordt geconfronteerd met een kans.
6. Tegenwoordig media vormen een hoofd oorzaak van mis-interpretatie en onenigheid tussen landen.
7. Er wordt vaak gezegd dat "Mensen de grootste waarde van een bedrijf vormen". Maar vanuit een futuristisch perspectief wordt deze waarde alleen gevormd door die mensen die continu prestaties en vernieuwing realiseren.
8. Het onthouden van mislukkingen en tegenslagen in het leven is net zo belangrijk als onthouden van succes en overwinningsmomenten.
9. Als alle doelen zijn realistisch zullen geen doorbraken volgen.
Deze stellingen worden opponeerbaar en verdedigbaar geacht en zijn als zodanig goedgekeurd door de promotor prof. dr. ir. L.J. Ernst.
