Wettbewerbe.
Internationaler Wettbewerb betr. Entwürfe für ein Denkmal zum Heiligen Herzen Jesu. Der kurzen A n
kündigung über diesen W ettbew erb, der der T eilnahm e deutscher K reise bei d e r D eutschen-Freundlichkeit, die in Spanien herrscht, sehr zu empfehlen ist, auf S. 68 der
„D eutschen B auzeitung“ trag en w ir nach, daß die K o sten summe für die E rrich tu n g des D enkm als einschließlich aller N ebenkosten die Summe von 800 000 Peseten nicht überschreiten soll. D as D enkm al soll der B edeutung der S ta d t Bilbao als der w ichtigsten H andelsstadt der spani
schen N ordküste, einer H afenstadt von etw a 100 000 E in
wohnern m it schneller Entw icklung, gerecht w erden. Die A nfänge der S tad t gehen aut das Jaln; 1300 zurück, in welchem J a h r sie durch Diego Lopez de H aro g eg rü n d et w urde. Der älteste Teil der S tad t liegt südöstlich der B ahnanlagen und östlich des Rio N ervion, der die A ltstad t, die sich an das Gebirge anschm iegt, von der in n ordw est
licher R ichtung in der Ebene sich entw ickelnden N eu stad t tren n t. Das D enkm al soll in der Mitte der P laza B elgica errichtet w erden und soll auf einem U nterbau die S tatue des Heiligen Herzens Jesu tragen. Die Stellung dieser S tatu e soll so hoch als möglich sein, dam it sie einen tu n lichst w eiten Umkreis beherrscht. Jedoch soll der U nter
bau aus H austein oder Marmor eine K reisfläche vo n 24 nl Durchm esser nicht überschreiten. D er U nterbau des D enk
mals soll gegen die „A venida de los A liados1’ eine stu fen förmige Anlage besitzen, die es erm öglicht, bei religiösen
■ Feierlichkeiten dort in erhöhter Lage einen A ltar zur A b
haltung von Messen und anderen Zerem onien aufzustellen.
E ntgegen dem U nterbau soll die stehende S tatue von Jesu s Christus, der sein Heiliges Herz zeigt, aus vergoldeter Bronce erstellt werden. Eine gute A nordnung k ü n stlich er Beleuchtung soll es erm öglichen, das D enkm al auch bei N acht w ürdigen zu können. D as P reisg erich t w ird die Entw ürfe nich t nu r vom künstlerischen S tan d p u n k t aus beurteilen, sondern sie nam entlich auch dahin prüfen, ob und in welchem Maß sie geeignet sind, d as religiöse Ge
fühl zu w ecken oder zu beleben. Die E ntw ürfe sollen aus Grundriß, sowie Vorder-, Seiten- und H interansicht in dem etw as großen M aßstab 1 :25 bestehen. Einzelheiten in größerem Maßstab sind zugelassen. A nstelle d er P läne können auch Modelle im gleichen M aßstab eingereicht werden. D aneben sind zu liefern ein E rläu teru n g sb erich t m it A ngaben über die A uffassung des D enkm al-E ntw urfes sowie über das gew ählte Material, und ein K ostenanschlag.
D er I. Preis von 15 000 P eseten w ürde nach dem heutigen W ährungsstand etw a einer Summe von 65 Millionen P ap ier
m ark entsprechen.
Es handelt sich hier um eine A ufgabe zur V erschöne
rung der N eustadt von Bilbao, die zweifellos großen A nreiz zur B earbeitung in sich birgt, w obei es vielleicht nich t ausgeschlossen ist, daß ein deutscher B ew erber an d e r A usführung beteiligt wird. Die spanischen K onsulate dürften in der Lage sein, w eitere A uskunft über die D enk
mal-A ngelegenheit zu erteilen. —
Wettbewerb zur Erlangung von Entwürfen für ein Denkmal der Auslandhilfe in Wien. Die Ständige D ele
