Abstract

In the previous release of the Research Yearbook (2012) I have presented the role of companies in today’s economy. The current article applies to the public sector, which is a complementary component of economic processes. In the first part I justify the necessity of the public sector’s existence, however in the second I present economic development indicators for selected countries. The article’s purpose is an attempt to estimate the public sector from the point of view of the redistribution function of the national budget. In the study statistical materials published by the OECD and Eurostat in the field of: national product, economic development and concentration of income have been used.

AROUND THE VIEWS ON THE ROLE OF MONEY IN THE ECONOMY IN THE HISTORY AND THEORY OF ECONOMICS

(Part V: Karl Marx’s Views on Money)

Abstract

The previous yearbook, the fourth article in a series of presentations within the intended achievements of economic thought in the theory of money, included a discussion of monetary concepts of selected classical economists. This time, in accordance with both the historical sequence, as well as significant affinity sub- stance, it is time for Karl Marx. The purpose of this article is therefore to present the author’s of “Capital” views on money. This is not an easy task. The main difficulty here is in the fact that this controversial, but at the same time undoubt- edly significant and creative scholar, did not leave in its rich heritage, compact comprehensive presentation of the theory of money. Instead, we can come across the pages of his numerous works – next to extensive notes and comments on many earlier theories of money – a rationale rather than full version of its own monetary theory. This is confirmed even in the titles of some books by Marx. In two of them he showed his opinion on monetary policies, are entitled: Outline

THE EFFICIENCY OF MACROECONOMIC POLICY – THE APPROACH OF THE MAIN STREAM ECONOMISTS AND THE KEYNESIAN ECONOMY

Abstract

The article contains the review of different opinions respecting the issue of macroeconomic policy efficiency. There are described the keynesian ideas – J. M. Keynes, J. Hicks, J. Tobin, N. Kaldor and the ones of the main stream econo- mists – M. Friedman, R. Lucas in the article. The first, especially J.M. Keynes , claimed that macroeconomic policy, chiefly fiscal policy, is very effective. They ignored the negative effects of such policy particularly the inflation. An economy returns too the stability but it makes to much social costs. So macroeconomic policy is very necessary. The second article maintained contrary – macroeconomic state policy is not effective. The market economy is stabile so it isn’t necessary.

M. Friedman noticed only negative effects of such policy in long period, especially inflation. The state has no influence on the real production in long period. R. Lu- cas is convinced that expected policy has no influence on real sphere. There is no possibility to surprise people so every state intervention is ineffective. There are used, among other things, the literature of M. Friedman, J. Tobin, N. Kaldor and the literature in English in the article.
