Kościół Św. Konstancji jest modlitewną, opiekuńczą i otwartą na wszystkich wspólnotą Kościoła Rzymsko-Katolickiego. Parafia, która została założona w 1916 r., przez polskich emigrantów, obecnie jest zróżnicowana kulturowo. Jako wspólnota parafialna tak podejmujemy nasze zadania, aby jeszcze lepiej dzielić się naszymi talentami, czasem i dobrami.

Poprzez liturgię, sakramenty i nasze posługiwanie niesiemy miłość Boga Ojca, pokój Chrystusa i inspiracje Ducha Świętego do innych. "I am the bread of life" ...

The situation recounted in today's Gospel is a lesson that Jesus gives to His disciples and to the surrounding crowds. Through His teachings and miracles, Jesus wants to remind us of our supernatural calling, He wants to pilot our search towards eternity and thus reaffirm that we are children of God, freed from sin. He wants to send us to proclaim his Kingdom of love, which is stronger than the fear of death.

However, before we ourselves become like Him and be "like bread" for other people, we must understand the process of spiritual transformation. We are to be like seeds thrown into the ground that have to die before they can bear fruit. In order to unite with Love, pride and false desires of our nature must die.

Purified in this way, we will be ready for more spiritual lessons. Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would complete his promised work in us.

Today we read about people who have been miraculously fed by the power of Jesus.

Unfortunately, the desires and motivations of those who have eaten were false: "You

are looking for me ... because you ate the bread until you were satisfied." They should have begun to understand that their fulfilment is in Christ Himself, but they were attached to their physical and personal needs. This can be pitfall in all of us. Jesus is the only food that lasts forever. He alone gives eternal life. We ourselves may be impeded by multiple attachments in our surroundings. Our senses, emotions,

relationships, imaginations, and habits are often like anchors that prevents our soul from full spiritual freedom and union with Christ.

Jesus is the Father's seal - His most precious gift and sign in our hearts. The Father's desire for us is to believe that he sent His only Son who is the only one who can satisfy all our desires in his way. Jesus descended into the world for you and me. He wants and needs to be our daily bread so that we can live forever.

"Jam jest chleb życia" ...

Sytuacja opisana w dzisiejszej Ewangelii jest kolejną lekcją jaką Jezus daje uczniom i

otaczającym tłumom. Poprzez swą naukę i cuda On pragnie wskazać nam nasze nadprzyrodzone powołanie, pragnie skierować nasze

poszukiwania ku wieczności i poprzez to uczynić nowymi, wyzwolonymi od grzechu dziećmi Bożymi. Chce posłać nas do głoszenia swego Królestwa miłości, która jest silniejsza od lęku przed śmiercią.

Zanim jednak sami staniemy się jak On i będziemy „jak chleb” dla innych ludzi musimy zrozumieć proces duchowej przemiany. Mamy być jak ziarna rzucone w ziemię i obumierające by wydać kłos. Aby zjednoczyć się z Miłością musi obumrzeć pycha i pożądliwość naszej natury. Tak oczyszczeni jesteśmy dopiero gotowi na kolejną duchową lekcję. Jezus obiecał, że Duch Święty dopełni obiecanego dzieła.

Widzimy dzisiaj ludzi, którzy zostali

cudownie nakarmieni, są pod wrażeniem mocy Jezusa. Jednak ich pragnienia i motywacje są fałszywe: „Szukacie Mnie (...) dlatego, że jedliście chleb do sytości”. Powinni zaczynać rozumieć, że ich zaspokojeniem jest sam Chrystus. Oni są jednak przywiązani do swoich potrzeb. To niebezpieczeństwo grożące każdemu z nas. Jezus jest jedynym pokarmem, który trwa na wieki. Tylko On nadaje życiu wymiar

wieczny. Blokuje nas jednak szereg przywiązań do tego co nas otacza. Nasze zmysły, emocje, relacje, wyobrażenia i przyzwyczajenia są jak kotwica, które nie pozwalają naszej duszy na pełną duchową wolność i zjednoczenie z Chrystusem.

Jezus jest pieczęcią Ojca – Jego

najcenniejszym darem. Pragnieniem Ojca jest, abyśmy uwierzyli, że posłał Syna, który może zaspokoić wszelkie nasze pragnienia. Jezus zstąpił na świat dla ciebie i dla mnie. Chce być naszym codziennym chlebem, abyśmy mogli żyć wiecznie.

GOSPEL J 6: 24-35 When the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they themselves got into boats and came to Capernaum looking for Jesus.

And when they found him across the sea they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you get here?”

Jesus answered them and said,

“Amen, amen, I say to you, you are looking for me not because you saw signs but because you ate the loaves and were filled. Do not work for food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.

For on him the Father, God, has set his seal.”

So they said to him,

“What can we do to accomplish the works of God?”

Jesus answered and said to them,

“This is the work of God, that you believe in the one he sent.”

So they said to him,

“What sign can you do, that we may see and believe in you? What can you do? Our ancestors ate manna in the desert, as it is written: He gave them bread from heaven to eat.”

So Jesus said to them,

“Amen, amen, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave the bread from heaven; my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

So they said to him,

“Sir, give us this bread always.”

Gdy zaś odnaleźli Go na przeciwległym brzegu, rzekli do Niego: «Rabbi, kiedy tu przybyłeś?»

Oni zaś rzekli do Niego: «Cóż mamy czynić, abyśmy

wykonywali dzieła Boga?»

Jezus, odpowiadając, rzekł do nich: «Na tym polega dzieło Boga, abyście wierzyli w Tego, którego On posłał».

Rzekli do Niego: «Jaki więc Ty uczynisz znak, abyśmy go zobaczyli i Tobie uwierzyli? Cóż zdziałasz? Ojcowie nasi jedli mannę na pustyni, jak napisano: „Dał im do jedzenia chleb z nieba”».

Rzekł do nich Jezus: «Zaprawdę, zaprawdę, powiadam wam: Nie Mojżesz dał wam chleb z nieba, ale dopiero Ojciec mój daje wam prawdziwy chleb z nieba. Albowiem chlebem Bożym jest Ten, który z nieba zstępuje i życie daje światu».

Rzekli więc do Niego: «Panie, dawaj nam zawsze ten chleb!»

Odpowiedział im Jezus: «Ja jestem chlebem życia.

Kto do Mnie przychodzi, nie będzie łaknął; a kto we Mnie wierzy, nigdy pragnąć nie będzie».

ON HUNGER, AND BEING HANGRY

My grandson is going on three months, and I have fun watching him when my daughter Sarah needs me. Jack and I get along. We stare at each

other. We babble. We tour the house. I’m good at diapers, so I tend to worry about only one thing: feeding time. Even though Sarah is nursing and leaves me with a bottle of milk if she plans to be gone for a while, Jack can go very quickly from being content to being hangry (I looked it up; it’s really a word).

When I arrived at Sarah’s for JackTime recently, she told me she’d just fed him, and then she showed me the bottle of milk she’d prepared for his next feeding, which she guessed would be in an hour or so. She said she’d likely be back before he was hungry again (beyond the prepared bottle), but if not, she told me to make two ounces of formula. I should have prepared it right then and there, but most of me was thinking she’d be back before I needed it. I was wrong. Jack started fussing after the bottle, but given the timing, I still expected Sarah’s imminent return.

The print on a can of formula is really small, btw, and Jack shifted from fussy to hangry as I tried to decipher the directions. I’m familiar with his cry for a bottle. On this day, though, it seemed to go up an octave, becoming less of a cry and more of a plaintive plea, an “Oooh, please help me” wail I’d not heard before. Sarah got home just in time to hear this plaintive wail. She said she’d never heard it before either.

Jack just wasn’t himself that day, which reminds me now of the Snickers ads that work on the same premise.

One has Betty White playing football. She goes out for a pass and a guy on the other team knocks her down. She joins the huddle where a teammate calls her “Mike” and disses her game. Another teammate says she’s playing like Betty White. Tempers flare, but a woman in the bleachers brings out a Snickers bar, and with one bite, Betty turns into the young man Mike. Enter the tagline: “You’re not you when you’re hungry.”

Hmmmm... Per today’s first reading from Exodus: “The whole Israelite community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The Israelites said to them, ‘Would that we had died at the LORD’s hand in the land of Egypt, as we sat by our fleshpots and ate our fill of bread! But you had to lead us into this desert to make the whole community die of famine!’” Complain, complain, complain. Gee!

And they were all so grateful when Moses parted the Red Sea! But now? Yeah. Now they’re just not themselves.

And when the crowd follows Jesus today after he feeds the five thousand, he tells them, “…you are looking for me not because you saw signs but because you ate the loaves and were filled.” Yeah. They’re just not themselves, either. Because remember, we are not citizens of earth with a spiritual bent; we are citizens of heaven with an earthly bent. As such, we’re just not ourselves when we crave the sustenance that only Jesus can give. But no worries. “Do not work for food that perishes,” he says, “but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.” Don’t you see? At least metaphorically, we need never be hangry again.

Nasza wiara ma być przyjęciem Dobrej Nowiny od Jezusa. Będzie to zmiana w naszym myśleniu. W Ewangelii Jezus mówi: „Szukacie Mnie nie dlatego, że widzieliście znaki, ale dlatego, że jedliście chleb do syta”. Żyć aby jeść – to myślenie wielu ludzi tego świata. Pokarmem dla nich jest chleb powszedni.

Pokarmem dającym życie wieczne jest Eucharystia. Tak jak bez codziennego chleba nie da się przeżyć, tak chrześcijanin nie przeżyje bez Eucharystii i Słowa Prawdy o naszym powołaniu do wieczności.

MODLITWA KOŃCOWA:

Pokarmem z nieba Pan swój lud obdarzył…

To, co usłyszeliśmy i poznaliśmy, i co nam opowiedzieli nasi ojcowie,

opowiemy przyszłemu pokoleniu, chwałę Pana i Jego potęgę.

On z góry wydał rozkaz chmurom i bramę nieba otworzył.

Jak deszcz spuścił mannę do jedzenia, podarował im chleb niebieski.

Spożywał człowiek chleb aniołów, Bóg zesłał im pokarm do syta.

Wprowadził ich do ziemi swej świętej, na górę, którą zdobyła Jego prawica. (Ps. 78)

ŚW. JAN MARIA VIANNEYA

PATRON PROBOSZCZÓW

WSPOMNIENIE - ŚRODA, 4 SIERPNIA

Jan urodził się w rodzinie ubogich wieśniaków 8 maja 1786 r. Do I Komunii przystąpił potajemnie podczas Rewolucji Francuskiej w 1799 r. Po raz pierwszy przyjął Chrystusa do swego serca w szopie, zamienionej na prowizoryczną kaplicę, do której wejście dla ostrożności zasłonięto furą siana. Ponieważ szkoły parafialne były zamknięte, nauczył się czytać i pisać dopiero w wieku 17 lat.

Miejscowy, świątobliwy proboszcz Ecully udzielał mu lekcji łaciny. Od służby wojskowej Jana wybawiła ciężka choroba, na którą zapadł. Wstąpił do niższego seminarium duchownego w 1812 r. Przy tak słabym

przygotowaniu i późnym wieku nauka szła mu bardzo ciężko. W roku 1813 przeszedł jednak do wyższego seminarium w Lyonie. Przełożeni, litując się nad nim, radzili mu, by opuścił seminarium. Zamierzał faktycznie tak uczynić, ale odradził mu to proboszcz z Ecully. Dopuszczono go do święceń kapłańskich właśnie ze względu na tę opinię oraz dlatego, że diecezja odczuwała dotkliwie brak kapłanów. 13 sierpnia 1815 roku Jan otrzymał święcenia kapłańskie. Miał wówczas 29 lat.

Pierwsze trzy lata spędził jako wikariusz w Ecully. Po jego śmierci biskup wysłał Jana jako wikariusza- kapelana do Ars-en-Dembes. Młody kapłan zastał kościółek zaniedbany i opustoszały. Obojętność religijna była tak wielka, że na Mszy świętej niedzielnej było kilka osób. Wiernych było zaledwie 230; dlatego też nie

otwierano parafii, gdyż żaden proboszcz by na niej nie wyżył. O wiernych Ars mówiono pogardliwie, że tylko chrzest różni ich od bydląt. Ks. Jan przybył tu jednak z dużą ochotą. Nie wiedział, że przyjdzie mu tu pozostać przez 41 lat (1818-1859).

Całe godziny przebywał na modlitwie przed Najświętszym Sakramentem. Sypiał zaledwie po parę godzin dziennie na gołych deskach. Kiedy w 1824 r. otwarto w wiosce szkółkę, uczył w niej prawd wiary. Jadł nędznie i mało. Dla wszystkich był uprzejmy. Odwiedzał swoich parafian i rozmawiał z nimi przyjacielsko. Powoli wierni przyzwyczaili się do swojego pasterza. Kiedy biskup spostrzegł, że ks. Jan daje sobie jakoś radę, erygował w 1823 r. parafię w Ars. Dobroć pasterza i surowość jego życia, kazania proste i płynące z serca - powoli nawracały dotąd zaniedbane i zobojętniałe dusze. Kościółek zaczął się z wolna zapełniać w niedziele i święta, a nawet w dni powszednie. Z każdym rokiem wzrastała liczba przystępujących do sakramentów.

Ks. Jan wyrzucał sobie jednak własną nieudolność. Błagał więc biskupa, by go zwolnił z obowiązków proboszcza. Kiedy jego błagania nie pomogły, postanowił uciec i skryć się w jakimś klasztorze, by nie

odpowiadać za dusze innych. Biskup jednak nakazał mu powrócić. Posłuszny, uczynił to. Nie wszyscy kapłani rozumieli niezwykły tryb życia proboszcza z Ars. Jedni czynili mu gorzkie wymówki, inni podśmiewali się z dziwaka. Większość wszakże rozpoznała w nim świętość i otoczyła go wielką czcią.

Sława proboszcza zaczęła rozchodzić się daleko poza parafię Ars. Napływały nawet z odległych stron tłumy ciekawych. Kiedy zaś zaczęły rozchodzić się pogłoski o nadprzyrodzonych charyzmatach księdza Jana (dar czytania w sumieniach ludzkich i dar proroctwa), ciekawość wzrastała. Ks. Jan spowiadał długimi godzinami. W dziesiątym roku pasterzowania przybyło do Ars ok. 20 000 ludzi. W ostatnim roku swojego życia miał przy konfesjonale ich ok. 80 000. Łącznie przez 41 lat jego pobytu w tym miejscu przez Ars przewinęło się około miliona ludzi.

Zmarł 4 sierpnia 1859 r., przeżywszy 73 lata. W pogrzebie skromnego proboszcza z Ars wzięło udział ok. 300 kapłanów i ok. 6000 wiernych. Papież św. Pius X dokonał beatyfikacji sługi Bożego w 1905 roku, a do chwały świętych wyniósł go w roku jubileuszowym 1925 Pius XI. Ten sam papież ogłosił w roku 1929 św. Jana Vianneya patronem wszystkich proboszczów Kościoła rzymskiego.

Rite of Christian Initiation for

Adults

R.C.I.A. is a process for welcoming adult (18 years and older) inquirers or newcomers into the Roman Catholic Church. The process of full initia-tion is adapted to meet the needs of men and women who are: not baptized; baptized in the Roman Catholic Church but who have not received any other sacraments; baptized into another Christian church, but interested in converting to Catholicism. It is also open to any Catholic who desires to deepen their beliefs and renew their faith. Weekly meetings are held from September through the Easter Season.

Candidates develop an understanding of church teachings/traditions through each session. Support and encouragement is given to each candidate as their under-standing of the faith increases and they progress in their spiritual journey. Some of the topics that are studied in-clude: Bible, Holy Trinity, Saints, Eternal Life, Mass, Per-sonal Prayer Life, Gospels and the Sacraments. Candidates also learn how to live the graces of our sacramental life as Catholics. This sharing enables each one to reflect and pray as they reach their decision to join the Catholic Church.

ST. JOHN VIANNEY PATRON OF PARISH

“If we really understood the priest on earth, we would die: not of fear, but of love.” St John Vianney’s whole life could be summed up in this saying attributed to him.

Known as the “Curé d’Ars,” Jean-Baptiste-Marie Vianney was born on 8 May 1786 in France. His devout Catholic parents were farmers, and from an early age, John worked in the fields. Without formal education, as a young man he was functionally illiterate; but thanks to his mother’s teaching, Vianney was able to memorized and understand numerous prayers, and live a devout religious life.

“I would win many souls for God”

At that time in France, the winds of Revolution were blowing. Young John made his Confession at home, rather than in a church, to a “non-juring” priest – that is, a priest who had not sworn loyalty to the

revolutionary government. The same priest gave him his First Communion in a barn, during an

“underground” Mass. At the age of 17, John Vianney felt the call to the priesthood. “If I am to be a priest,”

he said, “I will win many souls for God.”

But the path to ordination was not an easy one, due to the corrupted morals of the day. It was only thanks to some wise priests – including Father Balley, the parish priest of d’Écully, that he finally received Holy Orders on 13 February 1815, at the age of 29.

Long hours in the confessional

Three years later, in 1818, Father John Vianney was sent to the town of Ars, which, with just 230 residents, was little more than a small French village. Here the young priest dedicated all his efforts to the spiritual care of the faithful. He visited the poorest families, restored the village church, organized patronal feast days. He also founded La Providence, a home for girls.

But it was for his dedication to the Sacrament of Confession that the Curé of Ars is best known. He was always available to hear Confessions and offer forgiveness, spending up to sixteen hours a day in the confessional. Crowds of penitents travelled from every part of France to make their Confession to the holy priest. In time, Ars became known as “the great hospital of souls.” St John Vianney himself would keep vigils and fast to assist the expiation of the sins of the faithful. “I’ll tell you my recipe,” he told one of his confreres. “I give sinners a small penance, and the rest I do in their place.”

Patron of parish priests

Having given his whole life for God and his parishioners, John Vianney died on 4 August 1859. He was 73 years old. His relics can be found in Ars, in the sanctuary dedicated to him, which is visited by some 450,000 pilgrims every year. He was beatified by Pope St Pius X in 1905, and canonized twenty years later by Pope Pius XI. In 1929, the same Pope proclaimed him the “heavenly patron of all parish priests

throughout the world.” During the centenary of his death in 1959, Pope St John XXIII dedicated an encyclical to St John Vianney, pointing him out as exemplary model for priests. Fifty years later, Pope Benedict XVI inaugurated a “Year of Priests” on the 150th anniversary of his birthday into heaven, in order

“to deepen the commitment of all priests to interior renewal for the sake of a stronger and more incisive witness to the Gospel in today’s world."
