A Presentation The exploration is easy to read and is concise.

B Mathematical communication Consistent appropriate use of mathematical communication. The student uses different forms of mathematical language and representations excellently.

C Personal engagement The student has personalized the problem and one can see authentic personal engagement throughout the exploration.

D Reflection Critical reflection is present as the exploration is developed. Although the student could have reflected about the fact that a sine function will also have a maximum before actually using it, this did not detract from the development and flow of the exploration.

E Use of mathematics SL The mathematics commensurate with the level of the course and also goes beyond the level of the course. The student demonstrates knowledge and understanding throughout.

E Use of mathematics HL The mathematics is commensurate with the level of the course. The mathematics reflects both sophistication and rigour. The student demonstrates thorough understanding throughout.
