Public international law – semester I Rules of the course:
To pass the course you need to obtain a positive grade from the final test (6 points out of 10). In addition, each absence – except for one – will reduce your grade by 0.5 - attending classes is mandatory, as pointed out in Zarządzenie nr 18/2017 Dziekana Wydziału Prawa, Administracji i Ekonomii Uniwersytetu Wrocławskiego z dnia 27 lipca 2017 r. (http://www.doktoranckie.prawo.uni.wroc.pl/sites/default/files/Zarz%C4%85dzenie_18_Dziekana_W PAE.pdf).
Only if your grade is positive, I’ll upgrade it accordingly to your involvement throughout the whole semester. 2-3 most active students may gain the right to pass the course without final test with 5.0. I’ll take under consideration your presentations, preparation, discussions.
The test will be based on our classes (cases!) and lectures and will consist of practical application of subject covered during classes. If you know that you’re not going to be able to attend final test, you should pass it before. Recommended book: A. Kaczorowska’s “Public international law”. Documents:
1. Charter of the United Nations
2. Statute of the International Court of Justice 3. Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties 4. Draft Declaration on Rights and Duties of States 5. Montevideo Convention
6. Draft articles on Responsibility of States for Internationally Wrongful Acts, with commentaries 2001
In order to “make up” for absences during semester, you need to come to my office hours to answer some questions. I don't need to know the reason why you were absent - everybody has to go through the same material.
If you didn’t get the positive grade from the final test, you have 14 days from getting the results to correct it during office hours. Any delay or failure in this duty results in failing the semester and the whole course.
