Notes on Contributors

Agnieszka Kałużna, PhD, is Assistant Professor in the Department of English Phi- lology, Institute of Language Studies at the University of Zielona Góra, Poland.

She is also a certified translator and interpreter of English. Her academic inter- ests include literary translation (18th and 19th century) from the historical per- spective and contemporary translation.

Małgorzata Karczewska, PhD, is a linguist specializing in language contacts, their circumstances and results, with a particular focus placed on borrowings. In ad- dition, she is interested in teaching and learning English as a foreign language and in the phenomenon of global English. Dr. Karczewska is Assistant Professor in the Institute of Modern Languages at the University of Zielona Góra, Poland.

He gives courses on general linguistics, linguistic variation and corpus linguistics. He is a member of the research group Vernáculo Urbano Malagueño VUM (HUM392), and has taken part in several regional, national and international research projects. His interest in sociolinguistic studies has mainly been focused on works and publications about several of its subdisciplines such as social dialectology, linguistic variation, cor- pus linguistics, cognitive sociolinguistics and lexical statistics. He has published several books on sociolinguistics and lexical analysis, as well as specific works in periodical publications and magazines (Review of Cognitive Lingüistics, ELUA, Oralia, among oth- ers) and chapters in different books (John Benjamins, Honoré Champion).

Marek Kuczyński, PhD, is an author of publications concerning language acqui- sition, bilingualism and language transfer. He is Senior Lecturer at the University of Zielona Góra, Poland, where he teaches linguistics, descriptive and contras- tive grammar as well as research methods in linguistics. He has also authored several English coursebooks at all levels of proficiency. The publications have been written in accordance with the author's method of accumulative recycling and are used by language learners throughout Poland.

He has been working as an English teacher for 15 years teaching IELTS and TOEFL at private English schools, and grammar and writing, language testing, research methods, and ESP/EAP courses at different universities in Iran.

Clayton Lehman recently completed requirements for an EdD in Educational Lead- ership. His doctoral dissertation topic pertained to the effects of language policy on language acquisition models, language-specific professional development, and staff retention in English-medium international schools in East Asia. Clayton Lehman has taught in China, South Korea, the USA, and Vietnam. He is currently an EAL Curricu- lum Coordinator at an international school in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Urszula Majdańska-Wachowicz is a PhD student in linguistics at the University of Zielona Góra, Poland. She is a graduate of Polish studies and journalism as well as English studies. She is a member of the Society of the Polish Language Lovers (Zielona Góra branch) and International Association of Teachers of Eng- lish as a Foreign Language (Poland). Ms. Majdańska-Wachowicz is a teacher of English as a foreign language and a teacher trainer. Her research interests in- clude English-Polish language contact, contrastive genre studies, mass media discourse, and the language of music.

109 Mohammad Mohammadi obtained his PhD in TEFL from the University of Leads, England. Currently he is Assistant Professor at Urmia University, Urmia, Iran, teaching phonetics and phonology, syllabus design, and discourse analysis.

Richard Sharp, MA, is a teacher of English as a foreign language at the University of Zielona Góra, Poland. He is currently doing a PhD and his fields of interest focus on computer-assisted language learning and the impact and role of com- puter technologies in the modern language classroom.
