BKA-2G data file worked out on the basis of 48 000 Polish soil profiles
exam ined 1970 create a basis for such pedological syntheses as e.g. :
— establishm ent of num ber and depth of occurrence of nutrients
in particular soil profile horizons,
— determ ination of soils w ith favourable or unfavourable properties
for crop production,
— determ ination of agronomic and agrochemical recommendations
in relation to different soil units, etc.
The collection of data in the BKA-20 data file and their processing
according to standard statistical program s enabled the authors to work
out and determ ine the decarbonization degree of Polish soils. The
respective investigations were carried out by stages.
A t the first stage of the investigations, soil profiles w ith occurrence
of carbonates were distinguished according to kinds and species. It has
been found th a t most samples containing carbonates originated from
soils developed from clays (37.0%), sandy loams (33.1%), medium loams
(17.0%), sils (12.1%), heavy loamy sands (9.4%), light loamy sands
(8.4%) and coarse sands (6.1%) and the content of clayey particles grains
in diam eter below 0.02 mm (Fig. 1).
At the second stage of the investigations only soil units developed
from loams (sandy and medium ones) were considered. While comparing
the same soil units on the area of two glaciations (Baltic and Central
Polish glaciation) statistical differences in the mean content of carbona
tes have been proved. Soils developed from boulder loams of the Baltic
glaciation contained, on the average, 5.57% C aC 03, those from the
C entral Polish glaciation — 2.92% C aC 0
