Spreadsheets, summer semester, 2018. Assessment rules
Overall score is based on individual projects (80%) and practical test (20%).
Projects:
Projects will be evaluated during the classes (or office hours).
Each project will be rated from 0 to 10 points. The weights of individual projects are identical. The total number of projects throughout the course varies year-to-year, but is typically four to seven. Total projects score is thus calculated as:
𝑠𝑐𝑜𝑟𝑒_𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑗𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑠 = 0.08 ∙1
𝑛∑ 𝑝𝑜𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑠_𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚_𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑗𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑖
𝑛
𝑖=1
where 𝑛 is the number of projects realized during the semester.
For each project there will be a deadline established. Projects completed after the deadline will be rated lower by half.
Project evaluation is based not only on the contents of the files provided by the student, but most of all on in-depth knowledge of the solutions applied in it.
One day of absence during the semester has no consequences. Each subsequent absence reduces the result by 5 percentage points.
When the deadline of a project falls on the day of absence, then to meet the deadline the student is required to send his/her work to the lecturer by e-mail (to jakub.boratynski@uni.lodz.pl) before the class time, and come to office hours to have the project evaluated.
Practical test:
The test will concern the application of basic spreadsheet mechanisms (formulas, functions, commands), used during project preparation.
At least 50% score is required to complete the course.
