Female fertility rate is calculated as the ratio of the number of live births and the number of wom
en in the reproductive age (15 49). Besides total rate, age-specific fertility rates are published, that are calculated as the ratios of the number of live births from women and the number of these wo
men in the same groups of age. Births from mo
thers in the age under 15 are counted to the group 15 -19 and from the mothers in the age 50 and over- to the group 45 49.
Reproduction rates:
- total fertility rate refers to the number of chil
dren which would be born to the average wom
an during the course of her entire reproductive period (15 49 years of age) assuming that in particular phases of this period she would give births with an intensity observed during a given year, i.e., in assuming age-specific fertility rates for this period to be constant,
- gross reproduction rate refers to the number of daughters which would be born to the aver
age woman assuming that a woman during her reproductive age will give births with an inten
sity which is characteristic for all women giving births in the year for which the reproduction rate is calculated (constant fertility rates),
- demographic dynamics rate is the ratio of the number of live births to the number of deaths in a given period.
Birth rate of the population accounts for the difference between the number of live births and deaths in a given period.
Infant is a child under the age of 1.
11. Compiling data on causes of deaths, an initial cause of death was assumed. An initial cause of death is defined as a disease that oc
curred at the beginning of an illness period and led to death or as an injury or poisoning that resulted in death.
12. Life expectancy is expressed by the aver
age number of years that a person at the exact age x still has to live, assuming a fixed mortality level from the period for which life expectancy tables were compiled.

14. Migracje wewnętrzne ludności są to zmia
ny miejsca zamieszkania w kraju:
- na pobyt stały - opracowane na podstawie infor
macji ewidencyjnych gmin o zameldowaniu osób na pobyt stały,
- na pobyt czasowy - opracowane na podstawie indormacji ewidencyjnych gmin o zameldowaniu osób na pobyt czasowy ponad 3 miesiące.
Informacje te nie uwzględniają zmian adresu w obrębie tej samej gminy z wyjątkiem gmin miej
sko-wiejskich, dla których został zachowany podział na tereny miejskie i wiejskie.

15. Migracje zagraniczne ludności to przemisz- czenia ludności związane ze zmianą kraju zamie
szkania. Obowiązujące w Unii Europejskiej Rozpo

skiego i Rady z dnia 11 VII 2007 r, zawiera defini
cję migracji uwzględniającą zamierzony okres za
mieszkania w innym kraju wynoszący co najmniej 12 miesięcy. W rozumieniu tej definicji:
imigracja to przybycie do kraju osoby będącej uprzednio rezydentem innego kraju z zamiarem przebywania w nim przez co najmniej 12 miesięcy, emigracja to opuszczenie kraju przez jego rezy

- do 2009 r. - zameldowanej na pobyt stały, - od 2010 r. - faktycznie zamieszkałej.

tion already exceeded and second half did not reach yet.
14. Internal migration of the population is un
derstood as changes in the place of residence within the country:
- for permanent residence - compiled on the basis of gmina documentation regarding the registra
tion of people for permanent residence,
- for temporary stay - compiled on the basis of gmina documentation regarding the registration of people for temporary stay for a period of more than 3 months.
This information does not include changes of address within the same gmina, with the excep
tion of urban-rural gminas for which the division into urban and rural areas has been kept
The inflow of the population includes registra
tions of arrivals for permanent residence, outflow - registrations of departures from permanent re
sidence.
15. International migration of the population is understood as moves of the people related to the change of country of residence. Regulation (EC) 862/2007 of the European Parliament and the Council of 11 VII 2007 contains definition of migra
tion taking into account international period of resi
dence in another country for at least 12 months.
According to this definition:
-immigration means arrival in the country of per
son who previously
was
an usual resident of another country with intention to stay for at least 12 months,
emigration means departure from the country by its usual resident with intention to stay abroad for at least 12 months.
Usual resident of the country is a person who resides or intends to reside in a given country for at least 12 months.
Presented in this chapter data on registered migration comes from the PESEL register and was compiled on the basis of gmina documentation regarding rogistrations/deregistrations for perma
nent residence (international migration for perma
nent residence).
16. Ratos concerning vital statistics and migration of the population according to temtorial division were calculated as the ratio of tho number of defined events to the numbor of population as of 30 VI:
- to 2009 - registered for permanent residence, - since 2010 - do facto population (population ac
tually residing).
