Wh en he aw akes at dawn, he be l i e v e s that he has had "the be st dr ea me that ev er I had in my life" (s. xix). This e n d i n g s u gg es t s that the su cc e ss f u l s u b j ug a t i on of a wi fe by the will of her h u s b a n d he has just wa tc hed , h as b e en i m a g i n -ary. A l t h o u g h a s in "A S h r e w " the I n d u c t i o n c o n s i s t s o f o n l y t w o s c e n e s S l y d o e s n o t r e t u r n at th e e n d of t h e p l a y e r s ’ p l a y .
