A t th e a n n u a l g e n e ra l m e etin g in J u n e , 1936, th e re tir in g P re s id e n t, M r. J . E . H u r s t, an nounced t h a t M r. E . J . E ox, m a n a g in g d irec­

to r of th e S ta n to n Iro n w o rk s C om pany, L im ited , h ad presented th e sum of £500 fo r th e e stab lish ­ m en t of a Gold M edal to com m em orate th e de­

velopm ent of th e c e n trifu g a l c a stin g process in th is co u n try . The m edal was to be p re s e n te d to th e in d iv id u al who had c o n trib u te d in some o u t­

s ta n d in g way to th e progress of th e fo u n d ry in d u stry , w ith p a rtic u la r refe re n c e to fo u n d ry m etallu rg y . M r. F o x considered t h a t th e activ e association of M r. J . E . H u r s t, w ith th e de­

velopm ent of th e c e n trifu g a l c a stin g process, was a fittin g o p p o rtu n ity to m ake th is g if t.

The Council g ra te fu lly accep ted th e m u n i­

ficent g if t of M r. F ox, an d decided t h a t th e m edal should be know n as th e E . J . F o x Gold M edal.
