In this report the cause of crack-forming in the wheelsupport of the trolley on a grabcrane at Swarttouw in Rotterdam is studied. The forces are analysed, in order to determine the specific forces in the wheels. From these forces the stresses in the various cross-sections of the construction can be calculated. The stresses are compared with the permitted stress, and conclusions will be made regarding the consequences. It is possible to make some suggestions for improvement of the construction.
