Agricultural products are said to be naturally 'beautiful and wholesome'. The quality of the product at the end of the process chain is not only dependent on the quality at the beginning, but also on the control of quality during handling and transportation.

From a list of the requirernents for the product and its environment results a classification of methods of control. The process chain of the onion is studied into in more detail.
