Literature survey, Report 2000.LT.5097, Transport Technology, Logistic Engineering.

Since their introduction, Automated Guided Vehicies have been widely used in industrial applications. In this paper different technologies are summed up and compared. Besides, situations are analyzed in which an AGV can operate instead of traditional handling methods.

There is a difference between traditional and non-traditional AGV's. Traditional AGV's are being used in production, distribution or stocking applications. Non-traditional AGV's are being used in military, civil or heavy duty applications. Some fields of application are given.
