SOLUTIONS TO A PROBLEM OF DRINKING ALCOHOL
_____3_____ A lack of faith, confidence and self-esteem is often the case for most alcoholics suffering from their addictions. To help them come back into society some kind of “life skills programs” should be provided. As a result they would learn again some skills at communicating with other people or resolving conflicts which would naturally lead to ability of maintaining healthy relationships.
_____1_____ Nowadays society, facing so many difficulties has become very weak and susceptible to what is generally thought to bring relief; hard to believe as it may seem, this is what leads so many to alcoholism. Firstly, these days’ situation forces people to take part in rat race. The rivalry being so stressful, people eventually want to get it over, to forget about what makes them so tired and uptight; this is what makes them reach for alcohol.
Unfortunately, there are too many who do not know when to stop. Secondly, young people, not being paid enough attention from their parents, who spent too much time earning a living, look for friends. Some of them, sooner or later, begin to drink (some do it just for fun). Lucky them who do not fall in with a bad company. Thirdly, high unemployment rate, the fact that people stay at home with nothing to do very often causes frustration, which often results in their alcoholism. But how can we help those people recover from their addictions?
_____5_____ To sum up, there are several ways of helping alcoholics recover from their addictions. If more professional help and care were provided by the government or private institutions, more people would have a chance to abandon their enslavement to alcohol and come back to society.
____2______ One of the most important things is to provide them with safe and caring drug, alcohol and violence free environment, where they can work and cooperate with each other becoming responsible, productive members of society. Of course the access to structured treatment, the help of professionally trained counsellors and facilitators running special groups or one-on-one meetings, is crucial here.
_____4_____ What should serve as a follow-up to such programs is teaching how to hunt for a new job. People who spent so much time away from society may need to be taught some basic skills as for example writing resume letter.
