ZADANIE 13 (5 pkt.) Przeczytaj poniższe opisy. Odpowiedz na podane pytania. Wpisz odpowiednią literę obok każdego pytania (61-65). Dwa opisy podano dodatkowo i nie pasują one do żadnego pytania.

A) German Shepherds are loyal, affectionate pets, with excellent sense of smell. They are lively, eager and a pleasure to train as they have strong desire to obey. They are also used for police work.

Their hair, which protects them from cold temperatures and bugs, requires regular brushing. They are highly intelligent, muscular, and have a fighting instinct.

B) One of the best pets for children is the guinea pig. Guinea pigs are easily domesticated, love to be handled, don’t require large housing and are easily cared for. They rarely bite or scratch and can become very attached to their owners. When petted, guinea pigs make adorable ‘purring’ sounds that delight adults and children alike. Guinea pigs are easy to feed, requiring only hay, fresh water and fresh vegetables.

C) African grey parrots are stocky tailed birds which are extremely successful as human companions.

They are famous for their intelligence and ability to communicate and mimic an extraordinary range of sounds. They need attention and will pluck feathers when they are neglected. Their bites can be painful.

D) Lovebirds are small members of the parrot family from Africa. There are many different colour varieties. They are known by the name “Lovebirds” as they enjoy living with a partner for life, constantly together preening and cooing. But they can be kept alone as pets. They are sociable and affectionate and require handling and attention.

E) Rottweilers are large powerful dogs of a tall, black and tan breed. They are devoted and loyal, but should be supervised when they are playing around small children. Very territorial and stubborn, they will defend their family and property to the end.

F) Powder Blue Gourami are suited to small aquariums, as well as community aquariums due to their peaceful nature. They should not be kept with large or aggressive fish. They prefer to have plenty of vegetation around, including floating plants that cover part of the surface of the water.

75) Children who learn at home are very messy. T F NO INFO

In Britain it is legal to educate children at home, and now more parents than ever before are choosing to teach their children on their own. One of them is Jane Brown who used to be a teacher. Her husband, Peter, is a businessman and they have two children, Helen, 12, and Marc, 10. Jane tells their story.

“My children have never been to school. Helen was a very early reader and a very intelligent child who asked a million questions every day. She learned very quickly in this way. In fact, one day we realised that when she went to school she wouldn’t learn so much and so fast. So we decided to keep her at home a bit longer. Then her brother came who is 20 months younger. They had a wonderful relationship. Helen taught Marc to read – I can’t remember doing it myself. Our home became a very happy, natural learning environment.

Educating children at home is a 24-hour-a-day job. Parents have little time or place for themselves.

It is important to be patient and creative all the time, which is sometimes difficult. But educating children at home also means a lot of positive things. We have worked out a very good relationship with my husband who often comes to ‘teach’ or ‘learn’ with us. I also think we are now very close as a family. We talk a lot in the atmosphere of good friendship.

Every parent should think hard before she or he decides to educate their child at home. My advice for them is: never do it only because you suddenly get angry with a school system in your country! Think twice. And be prepared for a very messy house. There is not much time for cleaning, and those models of the solar system or figures of dinosaurs are not just left behind the classroom’s door.”

Some people also say that going abroad is a danger (79) ………. . They must be joking! The only pain is when you have injections against malaria. In fact, the one time when I got sick on holiday was in England, after swimming in Devon. The sea was (80) ………. that I got an ear infection.
