M. Gielisse The power consumption of Enerka-Becker Systems. Modeling the resistance to motion of a closed belt conveyor with a multipoint drive system.
Doctoraalopdracht, Rapport 2002.TT.5616, Transporttechnologie.
This report deals with the determination of the resistance to motion of the Enerka-Becker System (E-B S), which is a closed belt conveyor system with multipoint drive system. The research was done for Dunlop-Enerka B.V., Drachten, The Netherlands.
The total running resistance of an E-B S conveyor determines the power that has to be installed. The distribution of the resistance along the transport trajectory determines the locations at which drive units have to be placed.
The main aspects that are described in this report are: the modeling of the indentation rolling resistance
the modeling of the resistance forces due to the tilting of support rolls the modeling of the resistance forces caused by drive slip
comparing the modeled value for the total running resistance with the measured total running resistance of a test facility to evaluate whether DIN 22101 is applicable to the Enerka-Becker System
To obtain measurement results for the total running resistance of an E-B S conveyor and for slip, a fully operational test facility was available. Reports on Transport Engineering (in Dutch)
