RISACARU1. Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) will only be applied to mission-critical applications/functions. The feasibility of this strategy is given only by the eco-nomic performance. Therefore, only a few electronic components/systems are fulfilling this requirement. (This proposition pertains to this dissertation)
2. PHM does not cost extra resources because most of the functions are available. The ones missing are worth the investment due to the new data. It will bring new insights into the product design. (This proposition pertains to this dissertation) 3. Artificial Intelligence (AI) in its current form is overrated. The real power is in data,
not in the AI methods. (This proposition pertains to this dissertation)
4. PHM is like history. The longer you look in time, the less accurate it becomes. The unexpected is missing. (This proposition pertains to this dissertation)
5. AI Models represent human bias well. Therefore, AI will predict that god exists. 6. The main problem human being faces today is a lack of common goals and
direc-tion.
7. Too much tolerance gives birth to extremism.
8. Science is a lot like fashion. Trends will always come back.
9. Since a lot of herbal medicine merges with modern medicine, science is merging with religion.
10. Nature is always finding a way to balance power. Covid-19 is the natural way to restore the balance in the ecosystem and resisting human expansion.
These propositions are regarded as opposable and defendable, and have been approved as such by the promotor Prof.dr. G.Q. Zhang and copromotor Dr. P.J. Gromala.

RISACARU1. Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) zullen alleen worden toegepast op bedrijfskritische toepassingen/functies. De haalbaarheid van deze strategie wordt alleen bepaald door de economische prestaties. Daarom voldoen slechts enkele elektronische componenten/systemen aan deze eis. (Deze stelling heeft betrek-king op dit proefschrift).
2. PHM kost geen extra middelen omdat de meeste functies beschikbaar zijn. Welke er nog ontbreken zijn de investering waard vanwege de nieuwe gegevens. Het zal nieuwe inzichten geven in het productontwerp. (Deze stelling heeft betrekking op dit proefschrift)
3. Kunstmatige Intelligentie (KI) in zijn huidige vorm wordt overschat. De echte kracht zit in data, niet in de KI methoden. (Deze stelling heeft betrekking op dit proef-schrift)
4. PHM is als geschiedenis. Hoe verder je in de tijd kijkt, hoe minder nauwkeurig het wordt. Het onverwachte ontbreekt. (Deze stelling heeft betrekking op dit proef-schrift)
5. KI-modellen geven menselijke vooringenomenheid goed weer. Daarom zal KI voor-spellen dat God bestaat.
6. Het grootste probleem waar de mens tegenwoordig mee te maken heeft is een ge-brek aan gemeenschappelijke doelen en richting.
7. Te veel tolerantie geeft geboorte aan extremisme.
8. Wetenschap lijkt veel op mode. Trends komen altijd weer terug.
9. Aangezien veel kruidengeneeskunde fuseert met moderne geneeskunde, fuseert wetenschap met religie.
10. De natuur vindt altijd een manier om de macht in evenwicht te brengen. Covid-19 is de natuurlijke manier om de balans in het ecosysteem te herstellen en weerstand te bieden aan menselijke expansie.
Deze stellingen worden opponeerbaar en verdedigbaar geacht en zijn als zodanig goedgekeurd door de promotor Prof. dr. G. Q. Zhang. en copromotor Dr. P.J. Gromala.
