Scale-up in case o f crystallization from solution is a very difficult issue. The influence on the final effect o f this process have both kinetics and fluid dynamics. In this thesis the attempt w as m ade to find the procedure com bining laboratory results w ith industrial unit design. The param eter chosen as the best to present the changes in kinetics and hydraulics w ith increasing scale o f apparatus w as prim ary circulation time (PCT). The theoretical considerations showed that in com m only used m ethodology the kinetic requirem ents and hydrodynam ic capabilities cannot be fulfilled at the same time. In order to do that the PCT should not change. The attem pt to solve this problem w as m ade using com putational fluid dynam ics by sim ulating a sequence o f crystallizers varied by volum e w ith preservation o f geom etrical similarity. Then the relaxation of full geom etrical sim ilarity w as applied by change in w idth o f the gap betw een draft tube and stirrer. The obtained results suggest that the full geom etrical sim ilarity should not be preserved w hile scale-up and the m axim al linear scale-up coefficient should not be larger than 5. M oreover, in order to preserve the chosen param eter (PCT) the laboratory apparatus should be o f the sim plest construction w ith the w orst hydraulic conditions, whereas the full-scale crystallizaer should be o f the optim ized construction.
