Celem naukowym pracy było opracowanie preparatyki, przebadanie właściwości fizykochemicznych i aktywności katalitycznej układów otrzymanych na bazie węgla aktywnego, modyfikowanego różnymi związkami azotu. Przeprowadzono modyfikację handlowego węgla aktywnego amoniakiem, mocznikiem oraz amoksydację.
W zależności od modyfikacji wprowadzono grupy azotowe:
1) (NH3) pirydynowe i pirolowe, oraz typu tlenek azotu pirydynowego;
The preparation and physicochemical properties of activated carbons modified with nitrogen compounds
The scientific aim of this work was to study modifications of activated carbons with various nitrogen compounds and test their physicochemical properties. The main goal was to improve catalytic activity of such materials in DeNOx process. The commercial activated carbon was modified with: ammonia, urea or ammonia-oxygen mixture. Depending on the modification of nitrogenous groups, the following surface groups were introduced:
1) (NH3) pyridine and pyrrole, and N-pyridine oxide;
2) (urea) amide/imide and/or lactam and perhaps nitrile groups; 3 ) (NH3-air mixture) amino, imino, amido and/or imido groups.
The resulting material were characterized by temprature programmed desorption TPD, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy XPS and low-temperature sorption of argon. The influence the preparation methods on the texture and the type and amount of surface groups were discussed. Catalysts were examined in SCR process for a mixture of NO+NH3+O2+He. The problem of the presence of SO2 in
the flue gas was also considered.
The study has shown that the appropiate selection of preparation method and choice of certain preparative steps have a significant effect on the stucture of carbon catalysts and results in significant differences in their characteristics ans catalytic performance. Thus the optimization of these parameters allows to prepare the active, selective and stable carbon catalyst for the low temperature (below 250°C) process of removing NOx from flue gases from stationary sources.
