PROBABILITY CALCULUS 2020/2021
COURSE RULES
1. Lectures take place on Tuesdays, 11:30 AM in the form of videoconferences. Links and ma- terials are provided on the course page on the moodle platform. Presence during lectures is recommended. Persons who do not attend lectures on-line are required to use the provided materials and acquaint themselves with the covered topics on their own.
2. Tutorials take place in the form of videoconferences. Links and materials are provided on the course pages on the moodle platform. Participation in classes is mandatory, a student may have at most two unjustified absences during the semester. In case of force majeure or technical obstacles which may not be overcome and which prevent live participation in classes, the student is required to contact the teacher and determine an alternative way of participation in classes (before classes or immediately when the obstacles occur). If the student does not establish alternative participation rules or does not abide by the established rules, he/she fails the subject (fails classes and does not have the right to take the exam neither in the first nor in the second term).
3. Class grades are awarded based on the outcomes of three on-line tests, to which links will be provided on the moodle platform, and activity during classes. Tests may be corrected (exactly once), but there is no correction of activity. Weights for the tests and activity will be specified during the semester by the class teacher, for each tutorial group separately, and will fall into the range of 40-60%.
4. The class teacher will divide the students from each class into subgroups and will assign pro- blems to solve to each subgroup before each class. Each subgroup is required to jointly prepare and present the solution to their problems during classes. Not preparing a presentation of the solution or not presenting it leads to a zero mark for the specific activity for each subgroup member.
5. Before each class, on the webpage www.wne.uw.edu.pl/ajanicka and on the course pages in moodle there will be series of problems for classes and series of homework problems posted.
The solutions to homework assignments should be uploaded to a location specified by the class teacher on the moodle course page by the date specified. Each homework assignment may be corrected exactly once.
6. All students who pass classes are entitled to participate in the final exam.
7. The final grade for the subject will be based on: the sum of points from homework assignments (rescaled to the range 0-10 points), points from class tests and class activity (rescaled to the range of 0-40 points) and points from the final exam (rescaled to the range of 0-50 points).
8. The final exam will be held either at the faculty or online, depending on the epidemiological conditions. The exact form of the exam will be specified at a later stage, but regardless of the form the exam will consist of solving problems. In case an online exam session is scheduled, the exam may be oral.
9. Students who repeat the course must repeat classes.
