B.J. Vrolijk Logistieke besturing van 'engineer-to-order' bedrijven.
Masters thesis, Report 96.3.LT.4744, Transport Technology, Logistic Engineering.
This report is part of a research project on the logistic management in a 'engineer-to-order' companies. In the main report is explained how to manage such companies. About the proper logistic management performed by available software, very little can be found in the present literature. The goal of this report is to judge the functional support of the standard software. This is done by a comprehensive 'yes/no' inquiry among software suppliers.
A total of 30 systems are analyzed. Each system is tested on availabie functionality by asking 341 questions. The questions were related to the functional areas of the developed logistic management concept.
The primary conclusions are:
There is a very narrow base of overall good scoring systems; The integral management and control is often difficult, or not possible;
Most systems have difficulties with the support of engineering and project/production planning.; Reports on Logistic Engineering (in Dutch)
