Wesołych Świąt
Kids are running around, building an igloo, making a snowman and putting stars on the tree,
while the elves are wrapping presents for you and me!
My parents put some cookies, some milk, and joy around the table.
I am going to catch Santa if I’m able, hoping my patience for Christmas is stable.
I even put Christmas as my homework label!
The reindeer are ready, now it’s moving on to steady!
Joy is spread like butter on bread.
Time to go to bed
and wake up with presents right under our head.
This morning I put on my slippers and grabbed my dog rippers.
Than I saw two big presents under the tree just one for you and one for me.
Santa is resting and eating some pie!
I love this Christmas - remember, I never lie!

Stół zapełniony kolorowym jedzeniem, Ryba spoglądająca ciekawie z talerza, Opłatek biały jak śnieg,
Uszka w barszczu słuchające z ciekawością, Prezenty czekające cierpliwie na otwarcie.
To moja wigilia…

Świąteczna noc

Gdy została jej ostatnia zapałka, pomyślała jedyne z możliwych życzenie, aby zostać ze swoją babcią na zawsze. Zapaliła ją i poczuła, że się unosi. Najpierw jej potargane i brudne włosy stały się czyste i aksamitne, a stary i dziurawy fartuszek zamienił się w piękną białą sukienkę. Zamknęła oczy, a gdy je otworzyła zobaczyła, że jest jedną ze świecących na niebie gwiazd.
Nagle ujrzała babcię i od razu rzuciła jej się w ramiona. Babcia powiedziała, że w tym roku to ona, jej wnuczka będzie spadającą gwiazdą, która otworzy Bramę Świąt. Dziewczynka ucieszyła się niezmiernie. W dzień Wigilii Bożego Narodzenia babcia podarowała jej skrzydła, aby mogła polecieć i rozpocząć Święta.
Dziewczynka od razu wzniosła się w powietrze, a gdy znalazła się nad miasteczkiem i rozsiała Ducha Świąt, wtedy poczuła
w sercu coś, czego dawno nie czuła- Miłość.
I tak, co roku obdarowuje każdego Duchem Świąt.

Christmas in Germany
Christmas in Germany has a very long tradition. Everything starts already around the 1st of December when people start decorating their houses.
One of the traditional German decorations are nutcrackers. Nutcrackers are colourful, wooden figures that appeared in 1650 and represent kings, policemen and rangers.
Schwibbogen is a traditional German decoration too. It’s a candle holder originally made out of metal, but today it’s wooden. It originated among the miners who wanted to have more light during the dark winter period.
The biggest Christmas decoration in Germany is the Christmas pyramid. It's a carousel with a rotor which is propelled by hot air from candles. The biggest one is 25,5 metres high. Most of them are decorated with nativity scenes. Some people think it’s the origin of the Christmas tree.
Many of the decorations were invented in the Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge).
On the 4th Sunday before Christmas Germans light the first candle on the Christmas wreath. On the next Sunday they light the second candle… until four candles are lit. To shorten the waiting time for children until Christmas, somebody invented the advent calendar.
Every day you open a small window, in which you can find chocolates, biscuits etc. Today there are even online advent calendars in which you can find physical experiments.
At home families bake Christmas biscuits and eat them. Besides preparing food at home you can go to the Christmas Market, where you can buy mulled wine (hot wine with spices), roasted almonds, candy apples and Schmalzkuchen (donuts formed in small rectangles). A few days before Christmas people buy Christmas trees and decorate them.
Finally, when all the windows in your advent calendar are open, it’s Christmas Eve which is known in Germany as Holy Evening. You meet your family, eat poultry or vienna sausages with potato salad, sing and get presents from Santa Claus :).

Santa Claus Story
This is a story about a man who lived a long time ago and who was worried about the poor people. He wanted to change the world… Did he manage to do it?
Nicolas was living with his parents. They were an extremely happy and wealthy family.
When, unfortunately Nicolas’ parents died, he felt very lonely, especially as it was Christmas time.
On Christmas day when he was walking down the street, he could see whole families spending time together. However not all of them were happy. He noticed that lots of them had nothing to eat. When Nicolas saw it, he knew that he should do something to help them. He came up with the plan.
At night, Nicolas came near the house of the first poor family to donate it. He wanted to be anonymous, and to do it fast, so that nobody could see him. Fortunately he noticed an open window.
It was too small for Nicolas, but not too small for a sack with money! Decision was easy! He threw the sack to the other side of the window, right into the house. Once it was done he went further to the next house and he did the same. In just a couple of hours he gave presents to half of the families in the
He thought he should do it again and make it a yearly routine. And next year… he made that again! Moreover, he also built his own mini- factory of toys to make presents for children. He loved to see smiles on children’s faces!
The story about Nicolas became very popular. People all over the world decided to follow his actions. They started to make and give presents to each other during Christmas time. Each year I wait impatiently for Santa Claus, too. And one day I will follow tradition and become Santa myself to bring joy to my family and friends.
