Girl: Joe, will you take these chairs to another room? It’s hard to walk in here.
Boy: Then stop walking and sit down, Jessica. Why are you so nervous?
Girl: Oh, I’m waiting for Amanda. She promised to be here half an hour earlier. Where is she?
Boy: I think I saw her upstairs. Why do you need her?
Girl: I have a problem with my costume. The dress is too long and I wouldn’t like to fall down on the stage. I hope Amanda will be able to help me. She’s fitted so many costumes before. Yesterday she even fixed the curtain that had fallen down. Joe, you look worried too. What’s the matter? Is your costume uncomfortable?
Boy: No, it’s fine. But I’m afraid I’ll forget my lines.
Girl: Come on, Mrs Thomson will forgive you even if you make a mistake.
Boy: I know she will. But have a look at the audience. Mark and Robbie have just come.
If I say something stupid, they’ll laugh at me for a month.
Girl: Oh, don’t be silly. I’m sure you’ll do great. Besides, Mark and Robbie are nice guys.
They even promised to help me tidy up after the show.
Boy: Oh, look, Amanda’s here. Hurry up. The curtain is going up in a few minutes.

Man: Welcome aboard The Santa Maria!
The Santa Maria was built only 10 years ago. It looks exactly like the ship Christopher Columbus sailed on to America. One of the cabins has been turned into a museum.
There you can see some pictures of the maps which he used to plan his trips. There’s also a copy of a letter Columbus wrote to the king and queen of Spain. In the letter he announced the discovery of a new land. On the deck there’s also a 3D miniature of Gran Canaria – the island the explorer stayed on before his journey.
Our tour takes about 4 hours. We will travel along the coastline and pass several fishing villages, beautiful beaches and impressive cliffs. We’ll stop near one of the highest sea cliffs in Europe. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to walk up the cliff, but you can enjoy bathing in the warm waters. If you are lucky, you may see some dolphins near the ship. But it’s forbidden to get too close to them.
During the trip you’ll also be able to taste the island’s specialties – delicious ginger cake and fresh juice made from local fruit. Now, it’s time to set sail.

Boy: I remember when Mum and Dad brought Alice home. It was fascinating to watch them look after the baby. I understood that she needed more attention, so my parents didn’t need to explain that to me. I tried to make her happy and I often played the guitar for her. Over the years she has become as passionate about music as I am. Now, she says she wants to be a professional guitar player.

Girl: When I was four years old, my little sister was born. Mum and Dad were afraid I would be jealous of her. But I wasn’t. I liked talking to her, and I couldn’t understand why she didn’t answer. Then my parents explained that she was simply too young to say anything. Now, she just doesn’t stop talking, which can be irritating at times.
But still, I can’t imagine my life without her.

Boy: Rob was my best friend at primary school. When we were seven, his sister was born.
She was interested in everything around her and she was a lot of fun to be with.
Whenever I visited Rob, I enjoyed playing with her. It was really amazing for me to see her learning new things so quickly and getting bigger every day.

Girl: My sister is one year younger than me. When we were kids, our parents bought us similar toys and clothes. They didn’t want us to be jealous of the things the other one had. And I used to hate that because I didn’t want us to look like twins. But nowadays I don’t mind it at all. We often buy similar clothes and choose the same hairstyle. It’s funny when people aren’t sure which one of us they are talking to.
