II. DIPLOMA THESES A. Doctoral theses

One doctoral thesis was finalised at the Institute of Moral Theology under the guidance of senior academic staff members.

At the request of the Faculty Council of 12 January 2016, Krzysztof Stanibuła was awarded the academic degree of Doctor of moral theology on the basis of a dissertation entitled “Christian moral formation as a way to a mature personality in the light of G.W. Allport’s work” (Lublin 2015, pp. 278). Public defense of the dissertation took place on 17 December 2015. The thesis was supervised by rev. dr hab. Marian Po-krywka, and it was reviewed by rev. dr hab. Zbigniew Wanat (UMK Toruń) and fr. prof. dr hab. Andrzej Derdziuk (KUL).

The Institute was managed by rev. dr hab. Tadeusz Zadykowicz, professor of KUL. Rev. dr Krzysztof Smykowski served as the Institute Secretary and rev. dr hab. Jerzy Gocko, professor of KUL, as the Chief Editor of Rocznki Teologiczne issue 3: Moral Theology.

Between 15 September and 15 December 2015, rev. dr hab. Jerzy Gocko stayed at St. Gregory’s University in Oklahoma, participating in academic placement as part of the project co–financed by the European Social Fund “‘Najlepsze praktyki’ (‘Best practices’) in the strategic transformation of KUL” (project no. UDA–POKL.04.01.01– 00–113/10–00).

Rev. dr hab. Marian Pokrywka was promoted to the position of associate professor of the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (1 October 2015).

The Institute organised regular meetings of all employees during which current scientific and organisational issues were discussed. The minutes taken by the Institute Secretary, rev. dr Krzysztof Smykowski, testify to the regularity of the meetings and the diversity of the raised issues.

Institute staff conducted their didactic classes in accordance with the program accepted by the Faculty Council and approved by the Senate of the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin.

In addition, employees of the Institute of Moral Theology gave the following lectures in Polish:

Rev. J. Gocko: MA seminar in moral theology and Catholic social science at the

Higher Theological Seminary of the Salesian Society in Krakow, I–II semestre (30 hours). Lecture in circumstantial moral theology at the Higher Theological Seminary of the Salesian Society in Krakow, I semestre (15 hours), II semestre (30 hours).

Rev. K. Smykowski: Circumstantial moral theology—sacraments: marriage

(clas-ses) at the Higher Theological Seminary of the Bydgoszcz Diocese, I and II semestre (12 hours). Selected problems in bioethics (monographic lecture) at the Higher Theo-logical Seminary of the Bydgoszcz Diocese, II semestre (30 hours). Non–medical

as-pects of caring for life and health (monographic lecture) at the Higher Theological

Seminary of the Bydgoszcz Diocese, II semestre (15 hours). Introduction to

Christian-ity: moral life (lecture) at the Missionary Postulate of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of

Jesus in Pliszczyn, I semestre (28 hours).

Bishop J. Wróbel: Anthropological foundations of medicine (lecture) at the Faculty

of Theology, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Postgraduate studies in

bioeth-ics, Toruń, 23 January 2016 (5 hours). Auxiliary principles of medicine (lecture) at the

Faculty of Theology, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Postgraduate studies in bioethics, Toruń, 23 January 2016 (4 hours).

Rev. T. Zadykowicz: Circumstantial moral theology (lecture and classes) at

Arch-diocesan Higher Theological Seminary in Białystok, year IV and V (5 hours a week).

St Joseph in Radna Góra (15 hours). Selected problems in sexual ethics and bioethics— lecture for candidates for Sisters of St Joseph in Radna Góra (10 hours).

All senior academic staff members conducted scientific seminars (for graduate and postgraduate students). Rev. dr M. Kumór and rev. dr J. Wojtkun conducted Master’s seminars in Theological Seminaries in Sandomierz and Radom.

The following Institute staff members were members of examination board for li-centiate of sacred theology: A. Derdziuk, J. Wróbel, S. Nowosad, J. Gocko, M. Pokry-wka and T. Zadykowicz. On 6 June 2016, 8 people took the exam. S. Nowosad was also a member of examination board for licentiate of sacred theology organised for post-graduate students of systematic theology in English on 7 June 2016.

K. Jeżyna and J. Wojtkun were members of the Faculty Recruitment Commission. The Institute of Moral Theology organised Ogólnopolska Konferencja Naukowa

Oblicza miłosierdzia. Przesłanie moralne Kościoła [National Scientific Conference Faces of mercy. The moral message of the Church] on 9 December 2015 at KUL, Lublin;
