D e r in den Kriegs- und ersten N a c h k r i e g s j a h r e n v o n d en a u ß e r europäischen Lä nde rn , b e s o n d e r s v o n N o r d a m e r ik a gewonnene V o r s p r u n g m u ß e i n g e h o l t und m ö g l i c h s t überholt w erd en , w e n n D e u t s c h l a n d s Indus trie u n d mit ihr D eut sc hla nd s W e l t s t e l l u n g w i e d e r zu Ehren kommen soll. D i e s e U m s t e l l u n g is t a u f d er g a n z e n Front im G an ge. Soll ihr e N a c h h a l t i g k e i t g e w ä h r l e i s t e t werden, so m u ß r e c h t z e i t i g S o r g e d a fü r g e t r a g e n werden, daß der in d u s t r i e l le , im b e s o n d e r n der b e r g männische N a c h w u c h s in d e m n e u e n G e i s t e , in den neuen Verfahren u n d A n f o r d e r u n g e n der P r a x is a u s gebildet und e r z o g e n w ir d .
Daß die b e r g m ä n n i s c h e A u s b i l d u n g a u f d en B e r g akademien und T e c h n i s c h e n H o c h s c h u l e n ni ch t m e h r den Forderungen der P r a x is in v o ll e m U m f a n g e gerecht wird, dürf te k e i n e m im B e t r i e b e s t e h e n d e n Bergmann e n t g a n g e n se i n . In der S o r g e um die Zukunft u n se r e s B e r g b a u s hat die F a c h g r u p p e Bergbau im R e i c h s v e r b a n d d er D e u t s c h e n Industrie durch ihren A u s s c h u ß für b e r g m ä n n i s c h e s B i l d u n g s wesen, dem der V e r f a s s e r a n g e h ö r t , am 13. M ärz 1926 eine A u s s p r a c h e z w i s c h e n d e n z u s t ä n d i g e n Ministerien, den B e r g a u f s i c h t s b e h ö r d e n , den V e r tretern der H o c h s c h u l e n u n d d e n M ä n n e r n der b e r g männischen Praxis h e r b e i g e f ü h r t 1, d ie e in m al durch ihre zahlreiche B e t e i l i g u n g au s allen d i e s e n Kreisen die lebhafte A n t e i l n a h m e an d i e s e n F r a g e n b e w i e s , in ihrem Verlauf aber a u c h zu e r k e n n e n g a b , d a ß d ie A n sichten über di e z w e c k m ä ß i g s t e Ar t der A u s b i l d u n g noch aus ein an der geh en . D e r v o n d ie s e r V e r s a m m l u n g ausgegangene Ruf an alle, d i e es a n g e h t , di e a u f geworfenen Fra ge n g e w i s s e n h a f t u n d gr ü n d li ch zu prüfen, darf nicht e h e r v e r t o n e n , als b is e i n e L ö s u n g gefunden w o r d e n ist, d ie in erster Linie v o n den führenden Männer n d e s B e r g b a u s als d en Z e i t v e r h ä l t nissen und n eu en A u f g a b e n e n t s p r e c h e n d era cht et

Ihr Inhalt ist mit d e m A u g e des Praktikers un d l a n g j ä h r ig e n Leiters e i n e s g r o ß e m b e r g m ä n n i s c h e n B e tr i e b e s g e s e h e n u n d so l l au f G r un d v o n Er fa hru nge n der Pra xis in kurzen St ri ch en k e n n ze ic hne n, w e l c h e A n f o r d e r u n g e n d er p ra k ti sc h e G r ub e n b e t r ie b an d e n k ü n f t i g e n Leit er s t e l l e n m u ß . Er will hier mit zu w e it e r n M e i n u n g s ä u ß e r u n g e n a n r e g e n und Material für die e i n g e h e n d e n A u s s p r a c h e n liefern, die der e r w ä h n t e A u s s c h u ß h e r b e i f ü h r e n w ir d .
D a s Ziel der h o c h s c h u l m ä ß i g e n b e r g m ä n n i s c h e n A u s b i l d u n g ist und m u ß der B e tr i e b s le i te r b e r g m ä n n i sc h e r U n t e r n e h m u n g e n se i n , d. h. d er M a n n , der s e l b s t ä n d i g e , v e r a n tw o r tl ic h e u n d m a ß g e b e n d e E n t s c h e i d u n g e n über die P r o d u k t i o n s m i t t e l b e r g b a u l i c h e r U n t e r n e h m u n g e n zu fällen u n d das U n t e r n e h m e n na ch au ß en hin zu vert ret en hat. W e n n a u c h der H o c h s c h u l a b s o l v e n t nicht g l e i c h in e i n e d e r a r t i g e S t e l l u n g g e l a n g e n kann — m a n c h e r ü b e r h a u p t n ie in e i n e s o l c h e a u f s t e ig t — , s o n d e r n erst m a n c h e r l e i V o r s t u f e n w ir d du rc hs chr ei te n m ü s s e n , und a n d e r e w i e d e r ü b er e i n e s o l c h e S t e l lu n g s p ä t e r e in m al h i n a u s w a c h s e n , s o ist d o c h das Ziel un d S tr eb en j e d e s j u n g e n M a n n e s , der die H o c h s c h u l e a ufs uch t , u m B e r g f a c h zu s t u d i e r e n , dahin ge r ic h te t, e in m al e i n e n d e r a r ti g e n P o s t e n z u b e k le i d e n . W e d e r unte re B e a m t e n o c h G e n e r a l dire kto ren a u sz u b i ld en , ist d ie A u f g a b e d er H o c h sc h u l e , s o n d e r n si e s o l l d a s R ü s t z e u g f ü r e i n e n Stan d liefern, der d ie P e r s o n d e s B e tr i e b s le i te r s in vie lerlei G e s ta l t u m g i b t . Es w ir d z. B. w o h l n i e m a n d a u f den G e d a n k e n k o m m e n , v o n der U n i v e r s i t ä t zu v e r l a n g e n , daß si e H e i l g e h i lf e n , S a n i t ä t s m a n n s c h a f t e n o d e r Leiter g r o ß e r K r a nk en h ä u s er u n d Kliniken a u s b i ld e t, s o n d e r n nur Ärzte. D i e s e s Ziel w ir d die m e d i z i n i s c h e Fakultät unverr ück t im A u g e b e h a lt e n , g l e i c h g ü l t i g , o b d i e A u s sic h te n f ü r d en Arzt ba ld in d e m ei ne n, bald in d e m ändern Z w e i g e g ü n s t i g e r sin d. W i e a ls o Z w e c k u n d Ziel der A u s b i l d u n g in der m e d i z in i s c h e n F ak ultä t der U n i v e r s i tä te n der Arzt ist, s o ist d ie s im v o r l i e g e n d e n Falle der B et ri eb slei te r als V e r k ö r p e r u n g d e s l e i t e n d en B e r g m a n n s . Im G e g e n t e i l m u ß hierzu G e l e g e n h e i t g e g e b e n w e r d e n , da d i e s d o c h für alle än d ern W i s s e n s g e b i e t e eb en fa lls m ö g l i c h ist. D i e S t u d i e n p l ä n e für B e r g le u t e s o l l e n nur s o z u s a m m e n g e s t e l l t w e r d e n , daß s i e d en B e d ü r f n is s e n d e s s p ä t e m B e tr i e b sl e i te r s b e r g ba ulich er U n t e r n e h m u n g e n e n t s p r e c h e n .
D e r B e tr i e b sl e ite r ist o b e n v o n mir als der M a n n b e z e i c h n e t w o r d e n , der übe r d en G e b r a u c h der P r o d u k t i o n s m i t t e l e i n e s b e r g b a u l i c h e n U n t e r n e h m e n s s e l b s t ä n d i g , v e r a n t w o r t l ic h u n d m a ß g e b e n d zu e n t s c h e i d e n hat. Ich s e h e bei de r g r u n d s ä t z l i c h e n B e h a n d l u n g der A u s b i l d u n g s f r a g e d a v o n ab, da ß d i e s e K e n n z e i c h n u n g d e s B e tr i eb sl ei te rs in de r P r a x is ni ch t im m e r in allen P u n k t e n zutrifft. S ie w ill mir ab e r als das W e s e n t l i c h e e r s c h e i n e n , auf das e s bei s e i n e r T ä t i g keit a n k o m m t . W e n n es a u ch nich t A u f g a b e der T e c h nis c h e n H o c h s c h u l e n u n d B e r g a k a d e m i e n s e i n kann, C ha r a kt er e zu er z i e h e n , s o m u ß d o c h be i der b e s o n d e r s v e r a n t w o r t u n g s r e i c h e n k ü n f t i g e n S te l lu n g d e s a k a d e m i s c h v o r g e b i l d e t e n B e r g m a n n s in der Pr axis d ie s e r B e s o n d e r h e i t in allen F a c h v o r l e s u n g e n R e c h n u n g g e t r a g e n w e r d e n . Im a l l g e m e i n e n w e n d e n s i c h ja d e m b e r g m ä n n i s c h e n B e r u fe o h n e h i n s c h o n j u n g e L eu te zu, die si c h v o n der E ig e n a r t d e r A rb ei t im S c h ö ß e der Erde a n g e z o g e n füh len, d ie er nst und r u h i g ver a n la g t s i n d . G e w i s s e n h a f t i g k e i t , O p f e r fr e u d i g k e i t , Z ä h ig k e it , B e g e i s t e r u n g s f ä h i g k e i t s o w i e id e a l e V e r a n l a g u n g s i n d g l ü c k l i c h e r w e i s e ke in e s e l t e n e n E i g e n s c h a f t e n , w e n n s i e a u c h m a n c h m a l unte r d e m Ü b e r m u t d er S t u d e n t e n z e i t s c h l u m m e r n . D i e b e r g m ä n n i s c h e n W i s s e n s c h a f t e n , d ie si c h ja v o r w i e g e n d m i t der N a t u r u n d ihren G e h e i m n i s s e n b e fa s se n u n d b e w u ß t o d e r u n b e w u ß t N a c h b i l d u n g e n der L e i s t u n g e n d er N a t u r b e h a n d e l n , u n te r s tü tz e n v o n s e l b s t o d e r e r z e u g e n s o l c h e C h a r a k t e r e i g e n s c h a f t e n , w i e s i e d e n B e r g m a n n zie ren , s o da ß fast z w a n g lä u f i g a u c h d ie S e e l e d e s k ü n f t i g e n B e tr i e b sl e i te r s für s e i n e v e r a n t w o r t l i c h e T ä t i g k e i t v o r g e s c h u l t w ird . E n t s p r e c h e n d der D r e iz a h l d e r P r o d u k t io n s m i t t e l , d ie d e r V e r w a l t u n g d e s B e t r i e b s l e i t e r s an ve rtr aut sind, k ö n n t e m a n a u c h die W i s s e n s c h a f t e n e i nt e il e n , die sich m it d ie s e n D i n g e n b e f a s s e n . Ü bl ic h e r is t e s j e d o c h , s i e in G e i s t e s - , N a t u r - und H i l f s w i s s e n s c h a f t e n zu t r e n n e n . M i t R ü c k s i c h t a u f d ie o b e n s c h o n h e r v o r g e h o b e n e N o t w e n d i g k e i t , da ß an d e r H o c h s c h u l e au ch d ie M ö g l i c h k e i t , S o n d e r s t u d i e n zu t re ib en , g e g e b e n s e i n m u ß , w ir d e s si c h i m m e r m e h r a l s z w e c k m ä ß i g h e r a u s s t e l l e n , in e i n z e l n e n W i s s e n s c h a f t s z w e i g e n für d a s n o r m a l e b e r g m ä n n i s c h e S t u d i u m A b r i s s e in b e s o n d e r e V o r l e s u n g e n zu b r i n g e n , d ie n ur d a s W e s e n t

w a n d t e G e b i e t e mit u m f a s s e n k ö n n e n . A u f diesem W e g e ist e s m ö g l i c h , fü r d e n B e r g m a n n ei ne Ent
l a s t u n g z u g u n s t e n ande re r, f ü r ihn w i c h t i g e r e r Fächer ei nt ret en zu la s s e n . N a m e n t l i c h w ir d si ch d a s auf g e w i s s e g r u n d l e g e n d e F ä c h e r d e s b e r g m ä n n i s c h e n S t u d i u m s , w i e M a t h e m a t i k , M e c h a n i k und P h y s i k , be
z i e h e n k ö n n e n , d ie im V o r e x a m e n g e p r ü f t w e r d e n , so daß alsdan n in den ersten Semestern Platz w ird für andere G r u n d f ä c h e r , die je t z t n o c h in d e n s p ä t e m Se m es te rn g e h ö r t w e r d e n . Ich g l a u b e nicht, da ß d u r c h ei ne der
a r t i g e R e g l u n g die Zahl de r V o r l e s u n g s s t u n d e n für d en V o r t r a g e n d e n e r h ö h t w e r d e n w ü r d e , s o n d e r n es w ü r d e nur e i n e a n d e r e A n o r d n u n g d e s V o r t r a g s s t o f f e s e r f o r d e r l i c h se i n . M a ß g e b e n d f ü r d ie n ach s te h e n d e n A u s f ü h r u n g e n k ann j e d o c h nic h t d ie G e s a m t z a h l der S t u n d e n d e r an de r b e t r e f f e n d e n H o c h s c h u l e über
h a u p t g e l e s e n e n F ä c h e r se i n , s o n d e r n l e d i g l i c h der S t u d i e n p l a n , d en e i n z u h a l t e n d e m a n g e h e n d e n B er g m a n n v o n d e r H o c h s c h u l e e m p f o h l e n w ir d . Dieser k e n n z e i c h n e t d en G e i s t und die A u f f a s s u n g , die an d e r H o c h s c h u l e h in s i c h t l i c h d er b e r g m ä n n i s c h e n A u s b i l d u n g h er r s c h e n . D e n n d e r j u n g e S t u d e n t bedarf e i n e s d e r a r t i g e n L e it f a d e n s , v o n d e m er im a l l g e m e i n e n a u c h ni ch t a b w e i c h e n w ir d , da er sich so nst w i e ein B l i n d e r d urc h die v e r w ir r e n d g r o ß e Zahl von V o r l e s u n g e n d u r c h t a s t e n m u ß . Er w i r d anderse its a b e r a u c h v o n d en nur e m p f o h l e n e n F ä c h e r n w e n i g G e b r a u c h m a c h e n ; d e s h a l b h a l t e ich e s nich t für . r i c h ti g , w e n n d a s H ö r e n w i r k l i c h s e h r n o t w e n d ig e r F a c h g e b i e t e nur e m p f o h l e n w ir d , w i e e s a u f einz elne n H o c h s c h u l e n d e r F a l l ist.

p l ä n e s o l l e n nur m i t e i n a n d e r v e r g l i c h e n un d e s soll d ie F r a g e b e l e u c h t e t w e r d e n , o b d a s A u s m a ß und der v e r g l e i c h s m ä ß i g e A nt eil der e i n z e l n e n V o r l e s u n g an d e m g e s a m t e n Z e i t a u f w a n d a l s V o r b e r e i t u n g f ü r die P r a x i s a ls a n g e m e s s e n er sc h e i n t. V o r d e r P rü fu n g d i e s e r F r a g e n m u ß ab e r in kurze n Z ü g e n g e z e i g t w e r d e n , i n w i e f e r n e i n e Ä n d e r u n g in d e r P r a x is des d e u t s c h e n B e r g b a u s e i n g e t r e t e n i s t u n d w o z u gr u n d sä t z li c h ei n a k a d e m i s c h g e b i l d e t e r B e r g m a n n b ef äh ig t se in s o l l.

A u f d e m i n l ä n d i s c h e n M a r k t e ist daher ein h e f t i g e r K a m p f , e i n e r s e i t s z w i s c h e n d e n einzelnen K o h l e n b e z i r k e n , a n d e r s e i t s z w i s c h e n d e r Stei n- und B r a u n k o h l e e ntb ran nt, d e r z w a r v o r d e m K r ie g e auch n ich t g a n z u n b e k a n n t w a r , si c h ab e r d o c h in viel e n g e m G r e n z e n hielt. Im a l l g e m e i n e n k o n n te man s a g e n , da ß si c h die A b s a t z m ä r k t e g e g e n e i n a n d e r s c h a r f a b g e g r e n z t hat te n, s o da ß nur e i n z e l n e G re nz
g e p l ä n k e l s t a t t f a n d e n . H e u t e t o b t a b er d i e s e r Kampf um d ie n e u e n M a r k t g r e n z e n in s c h ä r f s t e r F o r m , und e s w ir d n o c h e i n e g e r a u m e Zeit d a u e r n , b is w i e d e r ein g e w i s s e r B e h a r r u n g s z u s t a n d u n d ein A u s g l e i c h ein-

getreten ist. E in e n w e s e n t l i c h e n E in f l u ß a u f d ie s e n Kampf übt der S t a f f e l t a r i f d e r R e ic h s b a h n aus, g e g e n den sich einz eln e B e z ir k e in u n a u s g e s e t z t e n B e m ü h u n gen wenden. D a a l l e K o h l e n b e z i r k e um ihren Mar kt kämpfen, ist d as B e s t r e b e n a l l g e m e i n g e w o r d e n , billiger zu e r z e u g e n , u m b i l l i g e r v e r k a u f e n zu k ön n en . Das trifft nicht nur f ü r d ie K o h l e zu, s o n d e r n auch für Kali und Erz, d a d u r c h d ie A b t r e t u n g w ic h t i g e r und ergiebiger V o r k o m m e n d i e s e r Art im V e rs ail ler Friedensvertrag au ch hie r s c h a r f e W c t t b e w e r b s - kämpfe auf dem In- u n d A u s l a n d s m a r k t e n ts ta n d en sind. sierung und M e c h a n i s i e r u n g der B et ri eb e, um dadurch den Anteil des H a u p t p o s t e n s in d e r S e l b s t k o s t e n - recjihung, des A r b e i t s l o h n e s , zu e r n i e d r ig e n und d as Ökonomiegcsetz, d a s Pr in z ip d e s k le i n s t e n Kraft- malles, d. h. der g r ö ß t e n W i r k u n g bei k l e i n s t e m A u f wand, zu er fü l le n . D i e in d i e s e r R ic h t u n g l a u f e n d e n Bestrebungen v e r v i e l f ä l t i g e n d e n m a s c h i n e n m ä ß i g e n Anteil der P r o d u k t i o n s m i t t e l a u f K o s t e n d e s M u s k e l anteiles in g a n z g e w a l t i g e m A u s m a ß und T e m p o . Besonders w ä c h s t d e r A n t e il d e r A r b e i t s m a s c h i n e im Betriebe s o w o h l z a h l e n m ä ß i g a l s au ch h in s ich tl ich der Vielgestaltigkeit. W ä h r e n d z. B. im Ruhrbezi rk im Jahre 19 13 er st 5 o/o d e r F ö r d e r u n g m a s c h i n e n m ä ß i g gewonnen w ur de n, b e l ä u f t s i c h d i e s e r A nt ei l h eu te auf mehr als 5 0 ü/o. Das sich s t e i g e r n d e R e c h t s e m p f i n d e n im V o lk e sowie die immer m e h r z u n e h m e n d e E rk en n tn is , daß das Wesen d e s L e b e n s v o r g a n g e s beim e i n z e l n e n Menschen w i e bei d e r U n t e r n e h m u n g in s t e te n Ausgleichsreaktionen mit d er U m w e l t b es teh t, die 'er änderte M a c h t s t e l l u n g d e s A r b e i t n e h m e r s im roduktionsprozeß s o w i e d ie Z u n a h m e der s o z i a l e n ürsorge für die A r b e it n e h m e r e r g e b e n e in e Ver

A uc h di e F r a g e n der F e u e r u n g s k u n d e , b e s o n d e r s d e r K o h l e n s t a u b f e u e rung , m ü s s e n h e u t e zur S c h a f f u n g n e u e r A b s a t z m ö g l i c h k e i t e n e i n g e h e n d e r b e h a n d e l t w e r d e n . D i e A n f o r d e r u n g e n , die h e u t e an d en a k a d e m i s c h g e b i l d e t e n B e r g m a n n g e s t e l l t w e r d e n m ü s s e n , g e h e n ab er in dem g e g e n w ä r t i g e n s c h w e r e n W i r t s c h a f t s k am p f, d e r auch in d en k ü n f t i g e n Jahre n m it w e c h s e l n d er S c h ä r f e b e s t e h e n b l e i b e n w ir d , ü b e r d a s u n m i t t e l bare B e d ü r f n is s e i n e s B e t r i e b e s h in aus . Er m uß auch b e f ä h i g t sein, unte r V e r l ä s s u n g d er al t en B a h n e n n e u e M ö g l i c h k e i t e n un d B e z i e h u n g e n zu e r f o r s c h e n . D a z u b e d a r f er ei ne r u m f a s s e n d e n N a t u r a n s c h a u u n g , der E r k e n n t n is v o n d er E in h e i t d er N a t u r s o w i e der G e s e t z e und K r e i s l ä u f e in ihr, die ih m b e s o n d e r s durc h die g r u n d l e g e n d e n W i s s e n s c h a f t e n v e r m i t t e l t w e r d e n . D e s h a l b bin ich der A u f f a s s u n g , daß bei d ie s e n W i s s e n s c h a f t e n , a l s o b e s o n d e r s bei d er M a t h e m a t ik , M e c h a n i k , P h y s i k und C h e m i e e i n e r s e i t s u n d bei der M i n e r a l o g i e , P e t r o g r a p h i e , G e o l o g i e , P a l ä o n t o l o g i e und L a g e r s t ä t t e n l e h r e a n d e r s e i t s , k e in e s o w e i t g e h e n d e Z e r g l i e d e r u n g in d e n V o r l e s u n g e n e r f o l g e n s o l l t e , w i e es b is h e r üblic h und bei d e n b e r u f l i c h e n H a u p t f ä c h e r n u n b e d i n g t n o t w e n d i g ist. S o n s t b e s t e h t die G e f a h r , da ß d e m j u n g e n S t u d e n t e n ni ch t die E r ke nnt nis für die E in h e i t der N a t u r un d i h r e e i n f a c h e G e s e t z l i c h k e i t a u f g e h t . A u c h d ie B rüc kc n z w i s c h e n d en e r w ä h n t e n g r o ß e n W i s s e n s c h a f t s g r u p p e n m ü s s e n g e s c h l a g e n w e r d e n . Freiberg g e g e n ü b e r . A u s d i e s e n b e id e n G e b i e t e n ließen sich in F r e i b e r g d e m n a c h e t w a 1 5 - 1 8 S tu nden zugunsten der in n e u s t e r Zeit w i c h t i g e r g e w o r d e n e n Fächer g e w i n n e n . E b e n s o k ö n n t e in C l a u s t h a l mit 23 Math em atiks tun den ein e n t s p r e c h e n d e r G e w i n n , namentlich für M a s c h i n e n k u n d e un d B e r g w i r t s c h a f t s lehre, h e r a u s g e h o l t w e r d e n . D a n n li e ß e n sich auch in Clausthal und in F r e i b e r g di e M a t h e m a t ik u n d die Mechanik w ie au f d en T e c h n i s c h e n H o c h s c h u l e n r e s t los in das erst e S t u d i e n j a h r vor r ü c k e n . Sch li eß li ch erscheint mir au ch d a s Z u s a m m e n l e g e n v o n M a t h e matik und M e c h a n i k w i e in B er li n a ls d u r c h a u s z w e c k mäßig, w a s ich w e i t e r o b e n s c h o n b e g r ü n d e t habe.
In Freiberg ist s o g a r di e s p h ä r i s c h e T r i g o n o m e t r i e als einstündige V o r l e s u n g in d en S tu d i e n p l a n für B e r g leute mit a u f g e n o m m e n . In C l a u s t h a l w ird sie auch gelesen; ihr B e s u c h is t a b er nur fü r d en M a r k s c h e i d e r vorgesehen. Zur W a h l s t e l l t B r e sl a u die G e o m e t r i e mit 4 V o r le s u n g s s t u n d e n u n d 1 Ü b u n g s s t u n d e s o w i e 2 Übungsstunden zu r a n a ly t i s c h e n G e o m e t r i e . D ie große B e d e u tu n g d er M a t h e m a t i k fü r d en B e r g b a u als eines techn ischen F a c h e s s o l l hie r d u r c h a u s nich t v e r kannt werden. A u c h d ie E r z i e h u n g zu m l o g i s c h e n Denken durch d ie M a t h e m a t i k ist ein nich t zu u n te r schätzender F ak to r. I n d e s s e n li e g e n die D i n g e heute so, daß andere, f ü r d e n p r a k t i s c h e n B e r g m a n n u n entbehrliche W i s s e n s g e b i e t e st ark a n g e w a c h s e n und neue hinzu get ret en si nd, die u n b e d i n g t im S tu d ie n p la n entsprechende B e r ü c k s i c h t i g u n g f i n d e n und d e n V o r
r a n g g e n i e ß e n m ü s s e n . A u c h sind in d e n le tz te n 2 0 Jahren die A n f o r d e r u n g e n in d er M a t h e m a t i k an den h ö h e r n S c h u l e n b e a c h t l i c h g e s t e i g e r t w o r d e n , s o daß d er j u n g e A k a d e m i k e r h e u t e e i n e w e i t b e s s e r e m a t h e m a t i s c h e V o r b i l d u n g bei m B e z ie h e n d e r H o c h s c h u l e m itbr ingt, a ls e s fr ü h e r d er F a ll w ar. O b a l l e r d i n g s d a s A u s m a ß d e r a u f d e n drei T e c h n i s c h e n H o c h sc h u l e n f ü r den B e r g m a n n v o r g e s e h e n e n m a t h e m a t i s c h e n V o r l e s u n g e n a l s hin re i ch en d zu b e z e i c h n e n ist, w i l l ich d a h i n g e s t e l l t se in l a s s e n ; d a rü b er w e r d e n die E r ö r t e r u n g e n d e s A u s s c h u s s e s n o c h A u f s c h l u ß g e b e n . J e d e m im p ra k ti s c h e n G r u b e n b e t r i e b e s t e h e n d e n v e r a n t w o r t l i c h e n B e r g m a n n w ir d ein v o n de r H o c h s c h u l e k o m m e n d e r j u n g e r A k a d e m i k e r m it g r ü n d l i c h e n , rein b e r g m ä n n i s c h e n , w i r t s c h a f t l i c h e n , m a s c h i n e n t e c h n i s c h e n und c h e m i s c h e n K e n n t n i s s e n li e b e r u n d b e g e h r e n s w e r t e r sein a l s ei ner, der m a t h e m a t i s c h h e r v o r r a g e n d a u s g e b i l d e t ist und d ie s c h w i e r i g s t e n G l e i c h u n g e n h ö c h s t e r O r d n u n g zu l ö s e n un d mit I n te g r a le n und D i f f e r e n t i a l e n b e s s e r u m z u s p r i n g e n v e r s t e h t a ls mit se i n en K u m p e l s . S o l a n g e si ch b e i d e s v e r e i n i g e n ließ, m o c h t e e s a n g e h e n , h eu te ist d i e s aber nicht m e h r d e r F a l l , s o da ß in d e r M a t h e m a t i k in F r e i b e r g u n d C l a u s t h a l k r ä f t ig g e s t r i c h e n w e r d e n muß . D ie t e c h n is c h e Wärmelehre ist h i n g e g e n alz u st ark bet ont, w ä h r e n d sie Aachen mit 2 S t u n d e n n u r e m p f i e h l t . Für den Bergbau ist die W ä r m e t e c h n i k n ic h t v o n s o l c h e r B e deutung w ie für a l l e ü b r ig e n I ndus tr ie n, s o daß die in Clausthal und F r e i b e r g v o r g e s e h e n e n 2 S tu n d en im allgemeinen g e n ü g e n dü r ft e n . H i e r a ll e in li eß en sich bei Breslau a l s o s c h o n 8 S t u n d e n g e w i n n e n .
Bei der C h e m i e ( Z a h l e n t a f e l 3 ) erken nt m an sehr deutlich, daß si c h die re in en B e r g a k a d e m i e n den Forderungen d er N e u z e i t b e s s e r a n g e p a ß t haben als die B e rg b a u ab teilu n g en de r T e c h n i s c h e n H o c h s c h u l e n , lndem sie für d ie c h e m i s c h e A u s b i l d u n g d e s B e r g manns fast die d o p p e l t e Zeit a u f w e n d e n . B e s o n d e r s hervorzuheben w ä r e in F r e i b e r g die o r g a n i s c h e Chemie s o w ie d ie C h e m i e d er K o h l e und d e s E rd ö ls , die in bes onder n V o r l e s u n g e n berü ck sich ti gt w e r d e n . uf diesem G e b i e t m ü s s e n d ie T e c h n i s c h e n H o c h

In M a s c h i n e n k u n d e u n d E l e k t r o t e c h n ik ( Z a h l e n - tafcl 5) über ra gt A a c h c n d ie ü b r ig e n H o c h s c h u l e n etwas, w e n n die ä n d e r n a u ch n ic h t g e r a d e in a llzu weitem A bs ta n d e f o l g e n . D ie s c h ä r f e r e A u s e in a n d e r - lialtung und d a m i t B e t o n u n g d e r E i n z e l g e b i e t c der Maschinenkunde, w i e sie d e r F r e i b e r g e r S t u d i e n p la n aufweist, halte ich f ü r s e h r w e r t v o l l . Am m ei st en zurück stellt C l a u s t h a l , w o d ie f e h l e n d e n S tu n d e n , w i e schon bemerkt, a u s d e r M a t h e m a t i k e n t n o m m e n w e r den könnten.
Über die M a r k s c h e i d e k u n d e n e b s t Ü b u n g e n (Zahlentafel 6 ) is t nur zu b e m e r k e n , d a ß in F r e ib e r g auch hier eine g e r i n g e V e r m i n d e r u n g m ö g l i c h wä re .
Das G e bi e t d e r B e r g b a u - u n d A u f b e r e i t u n g s k u n d e sowie der s o n s t i g e n w e i t e r n V e r a r b e i t u n g ( Z a h l e n tafel 7) ist in A a c h e n u n d B e r li n u m e t w a 1 5 S tu n d en schwächer b e r ü c k s i c h t ig t a l s a u f d en übrig en H o c h schulen. Ein Blick a u f "die Z u s a m m e n s t e l l u n g läßt er
kennen, w i e w e n i g g e g l i e d e r t b e s o n d e r s in A ach en ,
