FEAST OF FAITH The Opening Prayer
At the conclusion of the Introductory Rites of the Mass, the presider says or chants the words “Let us pray,” followed by the Opening Prayer. This prayer is also called a “collect” because it
gathers or “collects” the prayers of the entire assembly into one. The Roman collects that we
pray in our liturgy—noted for the brevity, clarity, and conciseness of the Latin originals—date from a variety of periods. Some are quite new; others reach back more than a thousand years. They are truly treasures of our tradition. The Opening Prayer can be divided into four main parts:
1) the invitation, or “Let us pray”;
2) the silence that follows, during which each member of the assembly lifts up before God his or her own prayers;
3) the collect itself, spoken or sung by the priest;
4) and finally the Amen, by which the assembly says, “yes,” “may it be so,” making the prayer their own. The collect itself almost always follows the same pattern. It begins with an invocation to God. A petition follows, usually very general. We ask for health, strength, wisdom, grace, forgiveness, faith, awareness. Every collect concludes by offering the prayer to God through Jesus Christ. With the Amen of the assembly, the Introductory Rites of the Mass come to an end. —Corinna Laughlin, Copyright © J. S. My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ!
Few weeks ago we ended the Archdiocesan „Renew My Church” Campaign. I always was and am proud of our parish, which always addresses spiritual needs of our faithful. This is exactly why ST. ALBERT IS GREAT!!! We are an exceptional and open to everyone community. Our parish is a second HOME to all Brothers and Sisters in Faith, Hope and Love !!! The Covid-19 pandemic however, visibly changed her structure. Through continuous growth of the Latino community our parish ethnic make-up also continues to grow and change. St. Albert the Great is the only church in our Deanery that offers Sunday Mass in Spanish at a very late hour 6:30 pm. Entire families, with small children and senior members must wait all day for the Eucharist in our Church. The “Renew My Church”
Campaign recommended change of the Mass time. Being obedient to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, listening to the message of the campaign “Renew My Church”, and by reading signs of the time, I decided that beginning with the 1st Sunday of Easter the 12:00 pm Mass will be celebrated in English and Spanish language. If this Mass will meet our expectations it will remain on our Sunday Mass schedule. As a result of this important undertaking we will discontinue the 6:30 pm Spanish Mass. I invite all English and Spanish speaking parishioners to take part in this “Eucharist!!! At this point it would be a sin for anyone to complain about lack of prayer availability in own language. I ask polish speaking parishioners and guests to attend Masses in Polish language (Saturday 6:30 pm, Sunday 6:15 am, 10:30 am, 1:30 pm or 5:00 pm). Please remember that Masses in English language are celebrated in our church Saturday at 5:00 pm, Sunday; 7:30 am and 9:00 am. I thank every one of you for support, understanding and kindness. Please pray for the gift of compassion in this very important intention.

Droga Krzyżowa rozpocznie się przy szkole Tobin Elementary School, a zakończy uroczystą Eucharystią w naszym kościele.

Kilka tygodni temu zakończyliśmy program diecezjalny „Odnów Mój Kościół”. Zawsze byłem i jestem dumny z naszej parafii, która stara się dostrzegać bieżące duchowe potrzeby swoich wiernych. To dlatego właśnie ŚWIĘTY ALBERT JEST WIELKI !!! Jest wspólnotą wyjątkową i otwartą dla każdego. Dla Wszystkich Braci i Sióstr w Wierze, Nadziei i Miłości nasza parafia jest drugim DOMEM !!! Czas pandemii niestety również zmienił jej oblicze. Nie jest żadną tajemnicą, że w ostatnich latach nasza okolica zmieniła się i wciąż się zmienia pod względem etnicznym. Jest widoczny wzrost Wspólnoty Latynoskiej. W naszym dekanacie tylko u św. Alberta Wielkiego w Burbank mają oni jedyną niedzielną Mszę Świętą i to późno bo o godz. 6:30 wieczorem. Muszą więc z całymi rodzinami, dziećmi i starszymi cały dzień czekać na swoją Eucharystię. Kampania „Odnów Mój Kościół” zasugerowała nam zmianę godziny ich niedzielnego nabożeństwa. Będąc więc posłuszny natchnieniom Ducha Świętego, słuchając głosów z kampanii „Odnów Mój Kościół” oraz odczytując „znaki czasu” postanowiłem, że od I Niedzieli Wielkanocy Msza Święta w niedzielę o godz. 12:00 w południe będzie dwujęzyczną Mszą Świętą (English i Spanish). Jeśli ona się „przyjmie” to pozostanie ona już na zawsze w naszym rozkładzie niedzielnych Mszy Świętych. W konsekwencji nie będzie już niedzielnej Mszy Świętej hiszpańskiej o godz. 6:30 wieczorem. Wszystkich parafian i gości mówiących w języku
hiszpańskim i angielskim zapraszam do udziału w Eucharystii !!! Tak naprawdę byłoby grzechem narzekać na brak możliwości modlitwy we własnym języku. Bardzo więc proszę polskojęzycznych parafian i gości o przejście na Msze Święte w języku polskim (sobota godz. 6:30 wieczorem lub w niedzielę na godz. 6:15 i 10:30 rano, 1:30 po południu lub godz. 5:00 po południu).
Przypominam, że niedzielne Msze Święte w języku angielskim są odprawiane w naszym kościele w sobotę o godz. 5:00 po południu i w niedzielę o godz. 7:30 i 9:00 rano. Dziękuję wszystkim za wsparcie, wyrozumiałość i życzliwość. Proszę was bardzo o dar modlitwy w tej właśnie intencji.

Kogo słuchać?
Codziennie docierają do nas tysiące słów. Jesteśmy informowani, pouczani, napominani, mobilizowani. Bywamy też chwaleni, ale rzadziej. Słowa częściej nas atakują niż wspierają.
Dlatego skarbem jest filiżanka kawy wypita w towarzystwie bliskiej osoby. Można pomilczeć, można wymienić parę zdań. Na pewno warto wtedy słuchać. Słów, które dają więcej życia niż najlepsza kawa. Słuchać też z bezinteresowną ciekawością poznawania tajemnicy drugiego człowieka. Pośród tych, w których towarzystwie dobrze się czujemy, jest jedna Osoba szczególna. To Jezus Chrystus. Czasem pamiętamy, że On jest najważniejszy. A czasem wiemy tylko, że Jest. I odkrywamy Go, gdy nasze życie przypomina rozszalały cyklon. W tzw. „oku cyklonu” zawsze panuje bezwzględny spokój. Jezus jest wtedy pośród tego cyklonu odnalezionym spokojem. Możemy sobie wyobrazić „huragan” sprzecznych uczuć w sercu Abrahama, gdy wchodził na górę, aby złożyć syna w ofierze. A potem spokój po słowach Boga przekazanych mu przez anioła. Bóg, który JEST. Jako fundament wiary Abrahama i mojej. Możemy sobie wyobrazić Przemienienie na górze Tabor. Prawie
multimedialne widowisko. Napełniające uczniów zachwytem i lękiem jednocześnie. A potem Głos: „To jest mój Syn umiłowany, Jego słuchajcie” (Mk 9,7). Jezus w centrum „duchowego cyklonu” na górze Tabor. Jako Słowo, które stało się ciałem. Gdy odkryję, że Jezus jest w centrum mojego życia, wtedy Go usłyszę. W modlitwie, w słowie Ewangelii, w wydarzeniach. Jezus nie oskarża, nie potępia.
