Our Gospel today continues Jesus’ Sermon on the Plain, in which we heard Luke’s version of the Beatitudes.
This week, Jesus gives us new “commandments,” telling us how to live and act in the world as his disciples, rooted in the radical love of God for humanity. It reminds us of his later speech about loving one another as he loves us, in other words with a God-like love, the kind we see in today’s psalm about God’s mercy. How else could we do as Jesus tells us by loving our enemies, which seems impossible, until we remember that God gave us the example of Jesus, who is like God but also like us? David understands this merciful love when he spares the life of his enemy in the first reading. Finally, Paul tells us that we will become like Jesus if we act as he did, as God does.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ!
Today in the Archdiocese of Chicago and all its parishes we begin the Annual Catholic Appeal 2022 campaign. This year’s theme is “Making all things new…God’s promise and our responsibility”. We will listen to the homily by Cardinal Blase Cupich and make financial declarations. Please remember that the declared amounts can be donated in monthly installments throughout the entire year. Payments can be mailed directly to the Archdiocese of Chicago or dropped in the collection basket. I ask you to please pray over your spiritual and material gift to your church.
With the beginning of Lent the Spanish Sunday Mass will be moved from 6:30 pm to 3:00 pm. The Sacrament of Baptism will be celebrated during Sunday Masses, in English at the 12:00 pm Mass, in Polish at the 1:30 pm Mass and in Spanish at 3:00 pm Mass.
Next week we will have for you the Lenten Stations of the Cross schedule, confessions, Passion of Christ play and the outdoor Stations of the Cross Procession in Burbank, as well as a special coupon offer for our parish Lenten fundraiser with Mabenka restaurant.

Moi Drodzy Para ianie i Goście !
Dzisiaj w naszej Archidiecezji Chicago oraz we wszystkich jej parafiach rozpoczynamy Doroczną Kwestę
Katolicką. Hasłem tegorocznej kwesty są słowa: „Odnowić wszystko... Boża obietnica i nasza odpowiedzialność”.
Po Ewangelii wysłuchamy specjalnego przesłania ks. kardynała Cupich i będziemy mogli złożyć swoje finansowe zobowiązania. Pamiętajcie, że te nasze donacje możemy składać przez cały rok. Możemy je wysłać bezpośrednio do Diecezji lub możemy je złożyć w czasie niedzielnych składek. Bardzo was proszę, abyście rozważyli taką duchową lub materialną możliwość wsparcia tego dzieła.
Bogu niech będą dzięki, że krok po kroku wracamy do normalności. Pamiętacie, że w czasie pandemii w związku z zasadami, które obowiązywały w kościele (limit wiernych na Mszy Świętej) stworzyliśmy tymczasową Mszę Świętą wigilijną w sobotę w języku polskim o godz. 6:30 wieczorem. Ponieważ nie ma już ograniczeń ilości wiernych zapamiętajcie, że od 12 marca nie będzie już tej Mszy Świętej wigilijnej w soboty. Wszystkich tych, którzy w tej Mszy uczestniczyli bardzo proszę, aby powrócili już na niedzielne Msze Święte w naszym kościele. Inną ważną zmianą jest przesunięcie od 6 marca niedzielnej Mszy Świętej w języku hiszpańskim z godziny 6:30 wieczorem na godz. 3:00 po południu. Od Wielkiego Postu sakrament chrztu będzie teraz udzielany w czasie niedzielnej Eucharystii. A zatem w
języku angielskim chrzty będą udzielane na Mszy o godz. 12:00 w południe, w języku polskim na Mszy o godz.
1:30 po południu oraz w języku hiszpańkim na Mszy o godz. 3:00 po południu.
Za tydzień podam szczegółowe informacje na temat Środy Popielcowej, nabożeństw w Wielkim Poście, rekolekcji, spowiedzi, przedstawienia Męki Pańskiej w naszym kościele, Drogi Krzyżowej ulicami Burbank oraz postnych posiłków w restauracji Mabenka (od każdego posiłku i po oddaniu kuponu parafia otrzyma donację).

WRÓG CZY BRAT? Każdy nasz dzień wypełniony jest
spotkaniami z ludźmi. W domu, w szkole, w pracy, w autobusie, w sklepie. Te spotkania, to relacje nie zawsze łatwe i przyjemne. Z tego składa się moja codzienność, czyli moje życie. Ten świat codziennych relacji często rodzi we mnie żal, rozczarowanie, złość, a nawet nienawiść. Jeżeli tak, to moje życie staje się udręką. Jezus daje mi propozycję innego spojrzenia. Jezus mówi: „miłujcie”,
„błogosławcie”, „módlcie się”. Dotyczy to tych, których nazywamy naszymi wrogami. Zaczynam od modlitwy. Za tego, który mnie skrzywdził, potraktował niesprawiedliwie. Modlitwa nie jest
prezentem dla mego wroga. Modlitwa jest drogą, abym zmienił nazwę
„wróg” na „mój bliźni”. To jest bardzo wymagające. Takie właśnie jest chrześcijaństwo, czyli codzienne naśladowanie Chrystusa.
