FEAST OF FAITHSeasonal Changes for the Liturgies of Lent Today is the First Sunday of Lent. During this season of preparation for Easter, our churches look stark and simple—no flowers at the altar, no festive banners or decorations. And our liturgies feel different, too. The organ is quiet except to
accompany the singing of the assembly. The Gloria, our Sunday song of rejoicing, is not heard except on solemnities, and we will not sing the Alleluia, our joyful acclamation of praise, until the
Easter Vigil. “Alleluia cannot always / Be our song while here below,” says an eleven th-century hymn. “Alleluia our transgressions / Make us for a while forego; / For the solemn time is coming / When our tears for sins must
flow” (Alleluia dulce carmen, J. M. Neale, trans.).
These changes in the liturgy will catch our attention, and make us eager for the festive outpouring of joy that will return with Easter. This year, may the stripped-away liturgies of Lent remind us to strip away what is not essential in our lives to make space for the crucified and risen One, and thus to be ready to sing “Alleluia”

We began the Holy Season of Lent. May this time of reflection bring us closer to the Cross, Jesus and to each other. Let us pray to God these beautiful words:
Dear God,
In this season of Lent, we’re reminded of our own difficulties and struggles. Sometimes the way has seemed too dark. Sometimes we feel like our lives have been marked by such grief and pain, we don’t see how our
circumstance can ever change. But in the midst of our weakness, we ask that you would be strong on our behalf.
Lord, rise up within us, let your Spirit shine out of every broken place we’ve walked through. Allow your power to be manifest through our own weakness, so that others will recognize it is You who is at work on our behalf. We ask that you would trade the ashes of our lives for the beauty of your Presence. Trade our mourning and grief for the oil of joy and gladness from your Spirit. Trade our despair for hope and praise. We choose to give you thanks today and believe that this season of darkness will fade away. Thank you that you are with us in whatever we face and that you are greater than this trial. We know and recognize that you are Sovereign, we thank you for the victory that is ours because of Christ Jesus, and we are confident that you have good still in store for our future. We thank you that you are at work right now, trading our ashes for greater beauty. We praise you, for you make all things new. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

W naszej parafii przeprowadzana jest kampania na rzecz Dorocznej Kwesty Katolickiej. Prosimy pamiętać, że Doroczna Kwesta Katolicka jest czymś zupełnie innym niż jednorazową specjalną kolektą. Jest to kampania, podczas której składane są zobowiązania finansowe, które mogą być spłacane w ratach. Rozpoczęliśmy święty czas Wielkiego Postu. Niech ten refleksyjny święty czas zbliży nas do Krzyża Jezusa i do siebie. Módlmy się o to słowami pięknej modlitwy:
„Dobry Jezu, czuwaj przy mnie przez czterdzieści dni, abym i ja mógł czuwać nad sobą. Ulecz przez zbawienną pokutę wszystkie moje grzechy i zranienia. Tobie oddaje ten wielkopostny czas, abym mógł na końcu wyznać wiarę
w Ciebie i z radosnym okrzykiem zawołać: Tobie chwała na wieki. Amen”.

„UCZY POKORNYCH DRÓG SWOICH”
Wielki Post to kolejne wezwanie do nawrócenia, jakie kieruje do nas Kościół, powtarzając słowa Jezusa. Ulegając kusicielowi, zrywamy przymierze miłości, które Bóg zawarł z nami.
Krew Chrystusa już otworzyła nam bramy królestwa Bożego, lecz każdy ma wolną wolę i może ten dar przyjąć lub odrzucić. Pamięć ludzka jest zawodna. Także pamięć o wielkich dziełach Bożych… Stąd też Matka Kościół w cyklu roku liturgicznego przypomina, jak wielkie rzeczy uczynił nam Wszechmocny. On zapragnął zawrzeć z nami przymierze, aby nas ochronić przed zwodniczymi kłamstwami księcia ciemności, abyśmy nie stali się łupem demona. Nowe
Przymierze, o którym naucza Piotr, obejmuje także ludzi żyjących przed narodzinami Chrystusa.
On bowiem „zstąpił do piekieł” (ale nie do piekła), aby wprowadzić ich do swego Królestwa.
On też poddał się kuszeniu na pustyni. Jezus jednak pokonał dla nas Szatana i dał nam udział w tym zwycięstwie. Abyśmy mogli jednak w nim uczestniczyć, Bóg wzywa nas do modlitwy o
„dobre sumienie” – takie, o którym mówił św. Jan Paweł II: „sumienia nie zagłuszam ani nie zniekształcam.
Nazywam po imieniu dobro i zło, a nie zamazuję. Wypracowuję w sobie dobro, a ze zła staram się poprawić”.
Dobrze ukształtowane sumienie to skarb: prowadzi nas do pokornego uznania swych grzechów, a Pan – jak mówi Psalmista – „wskazuje drogę grzesznikom; uczy pokornych dróg swoich”. Anastazja Seul
