Second Sunday of Lent
Whatsoever you do for one of these least brothers and sisters of mine, you do for me.
The brothers and sisters of Christ, who are also our brothers and sisters, in the Ukraine are suffering horrendously at the hands of Vladimir Putin and his merciless Russian aggressors. The crimes being committed against a nation, that has done Russia no harm at all, but only wants to exist in peace, are unspeakable. We will never understand the deranged mind of Putin but we can understand the suffering of the Ukrainian people. We see it daily by way of the media. In Christian charity we must act to relieve that suffering. Therefore we will be collecting funds to help our brothers and sisters for the next two weekends in church. A collection box has been set up near the pulpit. There you may deposit cash donations and checks. However!
Checks must be made out to Knights of Columbus Charities, Inc. and write Ukrainian Solidarity Fund in the memo line. 100% of this money collected will go to the Knights of Columbus Councils in Poland who are right there at the Ukrainian border providing assistance. Do not make your checks out to Our Lady of the Scapu- lar as that will force us to pay 7% of this money collected to the Archdiocese of De- troit.
