Jahrhundert entwickelte sich in dem kirchlich w ie politisch m ächtigen Köln, durch Anregungen des Erzbischofs R ainald von D assel (1159— 67) und durch die A rb e it einzelner Domherren oder Mönche des St. Pantaleonklosters, die A nn alistik und lieferte für die Z e it von 1106 bis 1300 w erth volle, gu ts tilisirte , eingehende Berichte, die nicht nur die rheinischen
(z.B. R angfrage zwischen K öln und M ainz) und deutschen, sondern auch die italienischen, westeuropäischen, kleinasiatischen Verhältnisse m eist aus besten Quellen darstellen.
N e u n H a n d s c h r i f t e n (aus Aschburnham, W ien , W olfenbiittel, Leipzig, Rom , Brüssel, W ürzburg, K ölm hat W a i t z in seiner lateinischen A u s
gabe von 1880 (chronica regia Coloniensis, Hannoverae) kritisch zu
