POETRY, SHORT STORY, DRAMA AND EXCERPTS FROM NOVEL

1976 –1977 - Kalsey Surjeet, Guest Editor and Translator for Punjabi Special Issue of Contemporary Literature In Translation, 1977 on the invitation of Chief Editor

Andreas Schroeder; included translation of Punjabi poets: Prof. Puran Singh, Prof. Mohan Singh, Amrita Pritam, Dr. Harbhajan Singh, S.S. Misha, Shiv Kumar, Jagtar, Surjit Pattar, Minder, Paash and others from India, and Ajmer Rode, Dr. Gurumel Sidhu, Navtej Bharti, Surjeet Kalsey and other from Canada. This was the first attempt to present Punjabi

literature in translation to the mainstream audience in Canada.

1977-1978- Kalsey, Surjeet, Translated and Edited, Glimpses of Twentieth Century Punjabi Poetry: An Anthology in English Translation, it included works of 52 Punjabi poets from India, Canada, USA, England, Kenya, Sweden & Pakistan. It was due to

publish in 1978 by Intermedia Press Vancouver which stalled it for years to secure Canada Council’s publishing grant under of multicultural literature policy.

Later Ajanta International Press, Delhi, published it much later in 1994. This has been a very first anthology in English translation of Punjabi poetry in Canada so far.

1980-1984 -Canadian South Asian Literature Conference took place in Toronto in 1983 and the first research of ethnic/ South Asian literature especially Punjabi Literature was presented which later published in : Meeting of Streams, Ed. Moyze Vassanji based on first research of South Asian Literature. Punjabi Literature Researcher: Surjeet Kalsey.

2007 - Shadows Of The Past, Selected poetry of Dr. Gurumel Sidhu, edited and translated by Surjeet Kalsey, Rainbird Press, Van 2007.

The Canadian Fiction Magazine Translation Vo. I & Vo II (1977-1987) published the following short stories translated by Surjeet Kalsey:
