The 9'^ International Conference on Numerical Ship Hydrodynamics was held in Ann Arbor,

Michigan from Sunday, August 5, 2007 until Wednesday, August 8, 2007. The Conference was

organized by the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at the University o f

Michigan. The principal sponsor of the conference was the Office of Naval Research. The

conference could not have taken place without the active support of the staff and faculty of the

Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at the University of Michigan.

The conference encourages the formal and informal discussion of papers related to the area of

numerical ship hydrodynamics. There were 99 registered participants from 10 countries. The

papers were grouped into sessions with a common theme. The primary themes were optimzation,

griding techniques, maneuvering, free surface problems, sloshing, slamming and impact

problems, ship/ship interactions, ship resistance, high speed vessels, seakeeping, propulsion,

cavitation, and a special session on the experimental ONR sponsored craft Sea Fighter.

The 60 papers presented at the conference were selected by the Technical Review Committee

consisting of experts from around the world in the numerical solution of marine hydrodynamic

problems. The members of the Technical Advisory Committee were:

Prof. Robert Beck (chair), University o f Michigan Prof. Neil Bose, Memorial University o f Newfoundland Prof. Lawrence Doctors, The University o f New South Wales Prof. Odd Faltinsen, Nonvegian Technical University D r . Joseph Gorski, NSWC, Carderock Division P r o f Masashi Kashiwagi, Kyushu University P r o f Hideaki Miyata, The University o f Tokyo D r . P r o f Frederick Stern, The University o f Iowa

P r o f Ronald Yeung, University o f California at Berkeley

Special thanks go to Shanna Jessee and Rhonda Curtis for their tireless efforts in support o f

the conference. Without their care and patience in dealing with the myriad of details involved in

organizing the conference, the 9"^ NSH Conference could not have been the success that it was.

This CD is bookmarked so that a reader can click on any paper in the agenda and it w i l l link
